Race Retro Show
Discussion
Did anyone else go? we were quite disapointed, there didnt seem much there of interest for the racer. when it started it was a great club motorsport show, with lots of manufacturers there and easier to get to talk to them than at autospud...
It seemed to be more for punters now, certainly not worth my 25 quid... heck 2/3 of one hall seemed dedicated to peeps flogging paintings !!!
may have been better if you were a fan rather than a competitor especially at the weekend with the live stuff..
I'll not be wasting 25 quid there next year..

Hey! Nothing wrong with paintings It seemed to be more for punters now, certainly not worth my 25 quid... heck 2/3 of one hall seemed dedicated to peeps flogging paintings !!!
Having said that, I've never visited or taken paintings there - Always been asked but it seems a bit 'classic car show' rather than GoodwoodWas a real shame, I was hearing before hand that there were a number of suppliers that wouldn't be there this year as they couldn't link any of the previous year's trade to their presence at the last show.
My car was on our championship stand, which I think was one of the better displays (in fact, most of the club championship stands were good), and seemed to have a fair bit of interest.
There were a lot of stands that I couldn't work out what they were there for... just the company name with an arty photo closeup of car body work or something, and a chap or two sat at a desk. Not very approachable, or informative.
I like the paintings, but the one I really liked was 1,800 quid, and I can't afford that!
I'd been expecting many more varied race series to be represented and was really looking forward to seeing what I might be tempted to race in the future, but I get more from attending race meetings and having a look there.

certainly not, and there were some very nice ones there, but it wasnt what i wanted to see there... It was more art gallery than classic car show !!!!I was diappointed compared to previous years, although I didn't go on the sat/ sun so didn't see the Group B Rally display. I can't remember the previous prices but it seems to have gone up markedly and not so many cars on display either. Unless you were a fan of Mk1 Escorts; there must have been a dozen on various stands and I, for one, got bored of them. I'd have like some variety!
Have to agree with most of the comments, it was my 4th time at the show, for me they didn't have many race cars inside.
One thing which was better was the rally car display, they have changed the layout of the course this year with longer straights, awesome to see the Audi on full throttle

I missed it this year and was quite disappointed I couldn't go. Having read all this, however, I don't feel quite so bad! It has been a very good show for genuine race fans, like me, in the past, moreso than the chavfest that is Autosport Int'l. Hopefully RaceRetro won't go the same way as ASI in the future.
