I've been thinking about creating a resource for those that like to carry out jobs on their cars themselves, or those like to be more knowledgable when talking to the 'experts' and maybe avoid some of the flannel.

Someone also mentioned compiling a book, Haynes style.

Well, how's this for an idea?:

I will host the pics and will create how-to pages, based on info' that we generate.

If we can get enough info together I will compile it into either a PDF manual or a printed format.

I'm envisaging a photographic based resource, similar in some ways to the genuine Cerbera workshop manual but with clear, colour photos.

I thought that maybe we could also submit articles to Sprint, the TVRCC mag', for inclusion in the Cerb' pages (Iain [Optimax Sniffer] what do you think?).

So, what I need is decent, hi-res, step-by-step pics of all the jobs you're doing, with concise descriptions, covering everything from changing brake pads to putting the cats' back in for MoT.

What do you think guys, stupid idea or, a goer?

I think it's a goer. I've downloaded the workshopmanual, but quality of the pictures is too bad.

Good idea!

I think its a brilliant idea. Steve Heath was supposed to be doing one, but it never materialised.

Also nodding plenty...

Lack of confidence in doing some of the work I'd do on my Golf, so this sounds like a great idea to me!

I've got hosting space and can create PDF's easily - even printed manuals if required.

As an aside - if anyones got the original workshop manual then I can scan to pdf easily and create a better copy. I've done the engine manual which has come out quite well but I'm reluctant to post it up as I believe it was created by a fellow owner.

I'm a book designer, so pride myself on being able to communicate ideas through photos and words, I already have a web site with a couple of gibabyte of space, one that is easily remembered by us all. biggrin

I'm not looking to profit from this, just would, like Byker28i, like to offer free info' to fellow Cerb' owners.

It may work, it may not.

Still materialising. Just haven't finished it as I have been busy making droplinks/fuse kits/knirled knobs/new bonnet stays/bolt kits/etc and other stuff for Cerberas.

As a neewbie I'd like to have a good decent manual.

Just re-shimmed a 306 and fitted new wheel bearing and suspension lowers.
All this with the Crappy Haynes manual that has 142 different models covered in the same book!
Had to staple the chapers not required together to keep it tidy!

Not like they used to be!!!

Wasn't meant as a 'rival' to yours Steve.

I bought your excellent Chimaera manual, in fact I've still got it as it's a great source of info'. biggrin

Fancy contributing to this?

Excellent idea, I've been wondering about a few jobs and would find such a manual to be a godsend.

Also some of the more unusual stuff, like removing the interior for retrimming and stuff (anybody made their own seat covers?) as well as the more technical stuff like brakes and whatnot would be great.

I think most of this is already here in the forum. If the searches can go back a few years I reckon most is covered, it just needs pulling out and rewriting in a more easily readable format.

There will be a few gaps that TT could advertise needed filling and I'm sure someone would suddenly admit to doing that job.

The extra leather I need to finish my complete interior refit arrived yesterday, so I will be starting on the front seats over the weekend. I photographed a lot of the rest of the job and was vaguely thinking of putting a bit of a guide together anyway.

Great idea TT, and I would be keen to contribute! (As well as benefit)
