Speedo problemo

Damn pods playing up. For some strange reason the needle is getting stuck above somewhere north of 70

Leave the car for an hour or two and the needle is back to zero.

Off we go again then back to stuck.

Digital readout is OK checks out with the sat nav speed reading.

Any suggestions? Don't fancy the remove the pod ..send it away ..get it back..not fixed scenario..

Will WD40 do the trick ..I'm good at that.

your rear speedo sensor needs cleaned and/or adjusted or replaced. See your local tvr spcialist or online if you want to do it yourself, VARLEYHD has some step by step instructions i think maybe in the Tamora section, try doing a search. cheers, Whitey

OH sounds like speed sensor, had to have mine replaced, Speedo was reading 180 mph going up to Fernies one day, in a 30 limit!

Are both analogue and digital up the swanee Phil?

But here I have a problem..I am assuming the Pod speed needle + the digital speed display + the mileage display are all controlled from the same sensor?

If thats the case and I may well be wrong how come only one's gone tits up?

Was that after Mark had the car for 5 weeks

You're correct, so if the digital readout seems fine, then the problem should lie elsewhere.
When you said that the needle gets stuck at 70mph, does it just stay there, or does it dance around there?

The speedo needle is controlled by a stepper motor. When you first turn on the ignition, the needle is moved to below zero at which point it activates a microswitch, and the stepper motor moves the needle up 1 notch from there to show zero.

It gets stuck a little over the 70 mark..... and there it stays no dancing around.

Park up for awhile and when I return after a few hours the needle is back to zero.

Funny thing is it only appears to happen after I've booted up through the gears to over 70 + a few more

Here's a photo of the back of the pod. It shows the gearing from the stepper motor to the wheel that the speedo needle is on. I was thinking that perhaps the gear wheel that connects to your speedo was missing a tooth, or the corkscrew from the stepper motor was off centre. However, in that case, I don't think the needle would reset as you say it does.

I had this problem and it was the most silliest thing!!! The glass had fell against the speedo needle.
So i was in a quandry how to pull it back..... so i got my tom tom mount sucker and fixed that to it and pulled it back into place and its been fine since...

Hope this is your problem as the fix is free...

Had the same problem of the needle sticking. It would go up, then just not come back down. Got a few nice pics of the needle at 197mph, impresses the ladies down the local ;-)

Few minutes after stopping it would gradually drop back to zero. Only happened the once, so no idea what caused it. Needle is tempramental at the best of times, bobbing about everywhere.

Well slap my fro

Good advice there .....except I used a Road Angel sucker .the glass is now pushed up tight to the Ali surround on the Pod

Looks like it's working all OK again, hoofed it up the road this morning to test drive my needle above the required sticking point, clear roads on Good Friday always helps.

Tis fixed.
