Does anyone have any experience of EBC's Yellowstuff full race pads which are appparently suitable for road & track use?

If they are full race pads they will not be suitable for road use as they will not achieve operating temperature in towns/traffic. I fitted Mintex M1144 pads which are described as fast road/track. Have not had the opportunity to fully test them yet!!

I fitted some but not to my TVR. The only thing I can say about them is that they do work slightly better than standard pads but obviously because they are softer, they don't last very long. I think I got about 6k out of mine.

Do a search on this forum.

Ferodo DS2500 is the best IMO. Work well when cold and don't get cooked on the track. These are the same spec as supplied by AP. Standard T350 pads are the next Ferodo model down in the range (Sagaris is probably the same - not sure - same physical shaped pads).

I just bought the AP version of the DS2500s. Only £10+vat extra and was told the Ferrodos squeal. Also, for information, T350 REAR pads - Ferrodo FDB398 - can be had from Halfords currently for (£10.71 +vat)

I understand from the EBC blurb that they do not require warm-up and have excellent bite from cold as well as being able to withstand the high temps of track use.

I had Greenstuff on my old Chimaera. Worked great once there was some heat in them. I can't see Yellows being any better when cold. TVRs are not overservoed like most cars, so the initial bite is important for road driving.

Hope they're ok for you. Bear in mind the original TVR pads were actually Ferodo (checked with Circuit Supplies who are the UK F. agent) but one grade below the DS2500.

If you check thoroughly into the detailed tech spec and what it means, most of us have found the extra cost of the Ferodo pads is a reflection of their superior performance when cold or hot and life (& therefore cost per mile).

So IMHO, EBC and similar are all easy-to-produce cheaper compromises in my experience on road & track, that take advantage of the go-faster customer's lack of tech knowledge with a bit of flash marketing and easy availability.

Oops, sounds like a rant, must be the beer smile

I was actually looking on them as an upgrade rather than a cheaper alternative - are Ferodos dearer?
Personally I'd rather not look at a cost per mile to run a TVR just in case I change my mind!

I recall when my Sag went into HHC for a check over after I had bought it (privately) they commented on the report that 'brake performance was poor' and when I asked what needed fixing they said nothing was worn but the standard pads gave below par braking! Hence my decision to fit the Mintex pads once the standard ones were worn enough to justify a change.

I guess its down to use and in most cases (mine probably included) the standard pads are fine. If you are a serious track dayer or do sprints then the difference may be appreciated. I think my Sag stops on a six-pence compared to my 911 smile

Have fitted the Yellowstuffs and so far mightily impressed. The bite when cold is far better than the original pads and fast road use is superb. Trackday next week so will post thereafter.

though they do squeak, but if you can live with that they are far better than the EBC, etc pads.
When I've used Mintex competition pads in the past I've found them poor for road use when cold.
