Just bought my first helmet - a little late in life, but still a milestone. My father in law pointed out to me today that I can't leave it plain white, it needs decoration. Where can you buy helmet graphics, and what sorts are safe to put on a helmet? A quick Google search today didn't get me far.

I fancy some Martini stripes - like on the official Porsche helmet that's out at the moment if anyone knows it. Otherwise a small Pistonheads sticker might be the thing.

Send it to someone to get painted... it'll look sheee-ite when the stickers start to peel off!

Be careful, stickers & paint jobs can affect the strengh to the helmet.

Which was half my original question - what sorts of stickers or paint jobs are safe? Anyone know?

The advice I got is that its best to avoid any stickers at all, apart from very small ones. The reason being that marshalls etc. are wary of approving helmets with big stickers on because they can hide damage or deterioration of the helmet. That could be crap but it made sense to me.

There are specialist websites that seem to do vinyl decals that fit to the shape of the helmet for motorsport, like this place http://www.harrisdecals.com/helmet.asp

The PH editors have them on their helmets, not sure if it is a custom job or just at standard PH sticker

Love it!

My helmet has some designs on it so a big sticker like that wouldn't work. I'm thinking of getting these for the sides of the helmet (click the picture to see it in the store):

but would still love a visor strip to replace the standard bell visor strip

Can't say if the PH editors are stickers or painted but I went down a similar route with a viynal sticker, well made and comes off easy enough. Only pain was cutting to fit on the oval surface.

I just thought up a nice design, masked it all off and sprayed it with ordinary car aerosols.

They're all acrylic these days unlike the old ones which were cellulose, so this would be OK Shirley?
