Has anyone here made an exhibition stand or had one made for them?

We are looking at possibly getting one made, due to the cost of the exhibiting space, I am trying to figure out the cheapest way possible smile

How big is the space you have and how much is it costing you to exhibit?

Do you need a stand building or a series of creative pop-up exhibition graphic panels?

We've delivered both to clients in the past and the current trend seems to be ignoring the high cost bespoke stands and concentrating smaller budgets on these systems as well as pop-up banner stands.

Email me if you want to ask any questions.

I have a pop-up display and a couple of older pull-up ones. The pull up ones were something like £150 a piece, the pop-up was £1000 including spotlights. The pop-up looks a lot more prefessional and if there are a lot of larger exhibitors then anything else may make you look a little amateur. I now only use the pull-up ones to stick in the hallways outside events we sponsor. If you are planning on doing more events in the future then get a pop-up one as it will enhance the £1500 you've already spent.

What the heck is a "pop up" display?

I have a guy I have been using at various companies for the past 10 years.

Speciallizes in smaller, cost effecient, custom stands and is well priced especially if he is already going to the show.

PM me if you need his contact details.

V.

edited to note these are not potable but custom stands.

I've used TPSDisplays and they've been fantastic. Very easy to change the display for different products and logo's. http://www.tpsdisplay.com/

Bear in mind like anything else in life you get what you pay for. £150 roller banners and cheap pop ups won't have the back-up and life span of something a little bit more expensive.

If you decide to save money up front, I can guarantee you'll spend more in the long run. Whilst a pop up is a good product, look at your competitors, you do not want to be seen as the 'poor relation' at the show and the quality of the stand reflects on the quality of your business - period.

If you want a modular stand that will grow, shrink and do the job for some years to come you have to budget £500 per square metre (as a good guide). Sure you can buy cheaper, but I refer you to my comments above wink

My company designs, builds and installs stands. Everything from a decent quality 'roller banner' through to £100k stands that are used for 3 days and then thrown in the bin!

If you would like to get in touch, please feel free to pm me but I warn you we will not be cheap and will not save you money in the short term. However we will be around in years to come, we will colour test and deliver graphics and systems that you will be happy with (with a lifetime warranty) and we will save you money in the long term. Our client list reads like a who's who not a who's not and our clients value our products and service.

Sorry it sounds like a sales pitch but I've been in this industry for a long time and I've seen some of the rubbish that's currently being sold to unsuspecting clients who come running back once they realise exactly what they've bought.

Good luck either way smile

6sqm is the smallest stand an expo has, so if your competitors have a 9sqm stand they're already 50% bigger and better (etc).

So, get a pop-up and high quality banners which hook & velcro on.

You can 'snazz' them up by cutting monitor sized holes in them and having a flash presentaion + audio running on a monitor which is attached to the pop-up behind.

This will make the difference between a guy standing in a box with limited resource and budget, or a company which is creative with the budget they have available - and companies certainly want to be dealing with a partner who spend their budget creatively.

If you want a designer/printer/pop-up supplier details ping me an email and I'll ask my guys in marketing where they got our roudshow kit from.

Huh?

The stand is the third largest in the hall.

it's not a huge exhibition, I have found some companies in China on alibaba, local companies probbably just farm work out to China anyway, we have containers leaving regularly, so it wont be a big deal getting a nice stand shipped over cheaply.

My apologies then... I used to be a director of new projects at Earls Court & Olympia and I can't recall a stand smaller than 6sqm at any show we hosted.

Roadshows and forums are different - desk, velcro boards and a damn good sales pitch.

I'm sure the show you're going to warrants shipping a stand from China, but a good product, great people and a satisfactory marketing spend by the expo organisers will usually suffice.

Good luck,
Donny

Be very careful buying from China, and I doubt very much if local companies farm out work to that region as the quality tends to be pretty poor. Many companies buy hardware from China, some of which can be quite good (some of which is also appalling), but buying the whole package including graphics from someone across the other side of the world is a big nono.

If you're determined to buy cheap, look on the web and find a company called Discount Displays. Dirt cheap, they small company that will sell you something for nothing. That said, you'll get no back up if it goes wrong, a very limited warranty but it'll do the job for a show.

You pays your money..........

Graphics I want to get printed from italy from a comapny called Pixart
http://www.pixart.it/it/index.php

Reason I don't want to spend lots of money is because it's not a huge exhibition, its only a small one in a town hall, and the shape of the stand could be different in the next exhibition.

We produce pop-ups, roll ups and custom solutions. There are plenty of cheap outlets flogging this stuff on the web, but as said before, you pay your money...

I personally would not want to bother with the hassle of dealing with suppliers in Italy or further away, when the risk of stuff turning up wrong, late or not at all could leave you with egg on your face at the show. There are plenty of decent and reasonably priced UK sources.

Advice is free, PM me if you want help...

I agree with all the arguments against getting stuff done abroad. There are plenty of good printers and popup suppliers that will help out if you call them rather than look at the shop front online.

I know it is old technology, but pick up the phone and talk to people when you narrow down what you want and how much you want to pay.

Had the exhibition earlier this week, funnily enough we were pretty much the best ones there, all the others were just a banner with a small table in front, I reused an existing modular stand with new artwork, and it came out really nicely, I paid a good amount for the photos (£70 odd) from someone that takes very decent shots. I got it printed locally at a signs type shop, who did an extremely good job.

Now this question arises, does anyone know where the bits and pieces for stands like this one come from, or what they're made of?

I am sure it can't be too hard, some 3d signs and a couple of other bits and pieces biggrin
