Bastille Day is the Monday after the Classic ends, I understand that the only real chance of getting petrol is via the stations on the motorway, but will the motorways and paeges be packed with nice French family's in there Renaults and Citroen's going to the seaside or visiting relatives?

Most E Leclerc garages I have tried recently will accept a UK credit card in their automatic pumps, and I do not think that the problem will be as bad as you envisage – contingency planning, as always, should pay dividends.
Most French people will be enjoying the celebrations with their extended families on Bastille Day. They are not big users of the Autoroute for just “getting about” the main exception will be on the approaches to Paris on Monday evening as Parisians will be returning from the countryside for their work on Tuesday and there are also big celebrations in the city.
