Looking into getting a genny this year for the 24hrs but not sure on which type to get.. I've heard Honda do a "Silent" model..

Anyone got an insight into where I should be shopping and for what model?

Obviously planning on getting some "security" for it and also some additional noise protection to prevent upset neighbours..

The best generators are without doubt the little hondas (ive got 7 used at work) But are 5-6 times the price of a cheap chinese one but will last 5-6 times longer if its just for le mans get a cheap one but not to loud or you will upset the neighbours

We got one of these and it has done two 9 day trips to La Mans without missing a beat (except when the pikeys drained it one night!). Fairly quiet and output does everything we want (kettle, fridge, freezer, lights, etc) all at once.

4 Stroke is quieter than 2 stoke. Also you don't have to faff about with mixing the petrol and oil together.

...and don't forget you anti-pikey theft tackle, good strong chain and padlock, ground anchor of some sort.

Never ending visits to the garage for the petrol, last thing you want to do be doing through Sat and Sun getting juice.

I saw a good way to anchor it down last year. Generator chain car's alloy wheel. Wasn't going anywhere.

We chained ours to the rear spring shackle on our LWB rental transit.



great idea until we couldn't find the keys to the padlock on Sunday. Found them Monday morning when dropping the camp .. phew..
