My mum and dad have just recently retired and they want to invest for the future. Any ideas on what to invest in without it been too risky.

It depends how much they have. Best speak to an IFA, or if they have over say £500K a wealth management firm. They properly need to understand their "attitude to risk", whether they want an advisory or discretionary service, risk allocation, what mixture of income and growth, what future life events might be approaching, tax considerations, possible SIPPs, etc.

The possibilities really are endless. I speak to all kinds of financial firms every day nationally, so if you need a good quality adviser, PM me and I can give details of an appropriate one.

You can give it to a stockbroker or IFA and they will invest it for you until it's all gone...

I run a firm that specialises in web-enabling finanical services. That's anything from bespoke website design for IFAs, Content and Document Management, SEO and Online Marketing, online client servicing tools (calculators, newsfeeds, annuity quotes, online investment systems, mortgage sourcing, etc), and Back Office Integration, so clients can view their portfolios online - eg. linking with Adviser Office, Plum, Intellifo, etc.

Having just a few minutes ago just got back from a meeting with Origo, you'll probably understand where I'm coming from!

I don't say much about it on here, as we are fairly niche and everyone will get bored, so PM me and we can chat off forum. smile

P.S. We also do website for other sectors, including several car magazines, of course biggrin

I have just been reading the Ronnie Woods autobiography where he touches on some of the investments made by his 'managers'. Despite being part of some hugely lucrative tours and recordings in one of the biggest bands in the world, in 2004 he had to be lent money as he was skint. 'Invested' away...
