Just bought an S2000, pick it up on Friday, who's best for insurance ? Need a company who'll not mind me doing mods to the car.

Any recommendations'll be appreciated.

Admiral if you want cheap but with crap customer service.

Otherwise:-

I got insurance through elephant. They were definitely the cheapest for me being a young (ish) driver without full no claims. Good customer service aswell and they aren't on these price comparison website things so easy to miss.

With Liverpool and Victoria at the moment, after previously being with Elephant. They were both cheaper than the rest at the time.

As already pointed out, go to the s2ki uk forum for more good advice on the s2000 in general including insurance advice.

Regards

Andy

I was with Sky, but then switched to A Plan after they failed miserably to get any where near a price match.

Not sure how A Plan are with mods (£45 premium increase when i swapped the exhuast)

Gone with Premium Choice, not really heard of them before but they were £100 cheaper than the rest and mods are available as they changed their original company to KGM who I have heard of from the TVR world. Obviously not sure how much extra they'll rip me off for any mods I do.

Anyway, these are the things I'm planning to do,

Exhaust HKS Hi Power.
Wheels maybe some 17in from a later model S or Volks TE 37's
Intake still undecided, as they seem a lot of money for what they actually do.

Another vote for Chris Knott, they seem to be beating everyone at the moment on S2000s, but you'll need to join www.s2kuk.com to get their club deal. Membership isn't a lot and you'll save loads.

Stay away from 18" wheels! If you want some 17"MY05 OEM,I may have some for sale soon. Next time you come round to see Steve, you can look at them to see if they are ok. You can also listen to my Invidia dual.
Rumour has it that you have bought a Ladyboy Blue? You do realise that this is the slowest colour?
Wixer (German for w*nker) and Ladyboy Blue, sort of fits!getmecoat

Seriously, glad to see that you have embraced engineering excelence after years of plastic kit cat ownership.

They're pretty shagged and difficult to refurb apparently.

Mine have a bit of curb rash but they are not hard to refurb, just that you lose the diamond cut finish on the spokes.

Have you got a pic of any without the diamond cut? Thats the bit that I love about them frown
