330d smoking

Hi, I have 330d 2004 full service from new but just started to smoke (diesel)under heavy right foot any ideas? (you know what dealers are like)Cheers

Needs a new Crankcase breather - part is £30. Easy to DIY, so can't be much to get a garage to do it.

Most probably the crank case breather. Did mine and also ran a bucket load of injector cleaner through the fuels system. Worked a treat. Oh, and don't use Supermarket "City" diesel or equivalent.

I always see 330d smoking, e46 ones that is... They all dont they?

Newer models with the DPF wont smoke for sure!

Every diesel BMW that I've had and my wifes diesel Golf run significantly better on Shell diesel than either Sainsburys or Tesco. My BMW's are certainly quieter and smoke less on "proper" diesel. In addition to that, I'll get at least 50 miles more from a tank of Shell diesel. Works for me.

yeah all diesels smoke, I tend to ignore it, my mondeo used to smoke like crazy!

Be interested to know how you got on with the breather valve - if you've any pictures on how to do it and where to get one, I'd be interested as it might be worth doing mine too...

Not all diesels smoke, not ones with a DPF!!

Mine does not smoke one bit!!

Regarding fuel. Mine feels far more spritely when running on BP ultimate!
