Hi all,

Has anyone ever wondered how easy it would be to create a new unit to replace the existing LCD display? As in, totally replacing the LCD display with a colour PDA type screen and redeveloping the software for a more up-to-date and slicker interface?

Not sure how you'd even start doing this though... probably need an electronics specialist to create some kind of control unit that could be swapped out for the original then write some software based on the current inputs, etc. Dunno... just a thought!

Well I guess you would have to replace the LCD and on top of all that the dash ECU. But then again I would ask the question as to why? It's good enough and looks great IMHO.

I guess that's why the factory didn't fit NEONS!

I actually also quite like the LCD screen but one reason would be to stop the problems people experience with lines and areas of the LCD screen failing. With a higher resolution you could fit more information on the display, readouts could show up in various colours (e.g. if the oil temp wasn't as high as you'd like before going over 2.5k revs it could diplay it in red). You could even integrate some kind of GPS navigation display into it!

No reason why not I guess - a datalogger and some display software for the screen - bingo! Would take someone with far smaller screwdrivers than me though!

Cheers,
