I'm having a problem opening the boot of my 4litre Chimaera (1999). I think the boot solanoid has gone as it has been playing up for the last month. Problem no is obviously that I can't refuel without being able to get into the boot. Can anyone recommend a bypass to getting the boot open? I've sent off for a replacement solanoid. Any tips on how easy it is to fit also greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Andy

Its in the bible, if you haven't got one, no one will post the info openly... BigAl must have a (well developed by nowhehe ) standard mail he sends out, try asking him, if he doesn't show up.

Just been searching the site and seen responses similar and understand the security issue - thanks anyway. Haven't got a copy of the bible but will go and try and get one.

Can get into the car, start it etc so if you know a way to pop the boot from that position that would be useful!

Yep, done thatcry. Fortunately, with a bit of fiddling, I was still able to open the boot with the boot release switch.

hehe

Been there, done that, got...

Pull into Petrol station and park
Using switch, open boot
Take keys out of ignition round to rear of car
Unscrew filler cap
Place keys down inside boot for a moment whilst filling up
Replace filler cap
Slam Boot
Begin to walk to cashier

................slowly realise...............

Upshot: Busy saturday mid-morning and a whole lane of petrol pumps are cordoned off as traffic builds out onto the main street...

Tried pulling back the carpet at by the lock but can't see it. Is it in the boot floor, side or back?
