Notwithstanding the fact I paid well over a grand for the thing in the first place, I wonder if anyone has any experience of Nikon lens repair costs when they are out of warranty? A poxy one year warranty on an item of that expense seems a little poor to me.

My 28-70 has a focus issue in that it basically wont, you can hear a slight grinding noise when it tries. I fear this may prove costly, I didn't even drop the bleeding thing it just started doing it on it's own. Bugger.

The aperture jammed on my old 70 - 200 VR f2.8 last year. I bought it on ebay so had no warranty or reciept. It cost me about £80 for the faulty part to be replaced and the whole lens to be cleaned and tested.
