Hello gang.

Quick question. In order to improve safety, I've got a Origin B2 on the way.

This will alert me to accident blackspots via GPS, and also has laser detection which is nice.

With the handheld/mobile detectors, do they still use radar much, or is it mostly laser in this day and age.

I ask as there is an optional radar unit as well, and if the police are still using radar to encourage people to slow down through areas with a high accident rate, I would like additional warning......

(Arse fully covered I think is another way to put it).

theres still some handheld radar around in my experience...but its more useful for mobile radar based cameras that arnt in the GPS database.

Also the laser module only tells you when youve been targeted ...not much good if you are over the limit at the time - you need a Target LRC100 or Snooper SLD920 laser detector/diffuser to buy you a few secs and give piece of mind

Yeah, I know the laser pickup isn't great. Hopefully you pick up some scatter from the car in front, but not always. It's a free addition, so nice to have.

Most of the common mobile sites will be in the Database as black-spots.

I've not been zapped for 5 years, so I must be doing something right. This is just additional peace of mind so I can concentrate on *driving* the car rather than preserving licence.

Perhaps something I should be looking to get. I got caught for the first time in 20yrs 2 weeks ago. Now I am driving dead on the limit and find I am looking at my speedo more than the road! What a great Contribution to road safety.

Ah yes, but don't you get it Munta? You may now have a greater chance of hitting jay-walking pedestrians as a result of spreading your concentration more thinly, but you have a slightly less chance of the pedestrian being killed by the impact as opposed to just being maimed. That's good you see - apparently.

Nope, because you're now driving a sodding great 4x4 to deal with the shocking roads and traffic 'calming'. Which has a 5" steal bar welded to the front to kill cows. So when you clip little Johnny at 12mph because you're staring at the speedo, you brain him before he goes under the wheels.....
