CD player is stuck on “Eject” ?

97 Alpine OEM unit is stuck on Eject. The radio works fine but if you switch to CD it just says Eject. No noise like the CD is stuck.

Anyone ever have this problem??

Thx Dan

Had this problem on mine before I ditched it for the new system...

Can't remember exactly how I solved the problem, but I am sure it involved an unwanted CD and some use of force... (it's the techie in me)

I'll think about it for a bit and post back if I remember...

The micro switch or the roller is likely stuck or dirty. Disassemble the CD unit and clean with electronic fluoronated hydro carbon spray that leaves no residue.
Good luck,

Most likely the spindle or the clamp is not retracting. Could be a micro switch not triggering the release. Or an opto sensor. Could be just dirty of it is stuck.

Thank you all!

I will pull it out and take it apart to find the problem. Quick tips on how to get it out of a 97 dash?

It has been a long time since I took out an Alpine, so if I'm wrong someone correct me.

If your unit has a removeable face, take it off.

You will find 2 key way slots (real thin slots) on either side of unit.

Insert the Alpine key tool into these slots and the head unit will slide out towards the front from it's mounting cage.

After that just unhook the mod plugs and bullet connectors from the wiring harness in back of the unit.
