Isn't there a vertical bulkhead plate forward of the bottle for protection? And how does that protect the stuff stuck in the front of the clam? Expecting everything coming off the tyres to only hit the rear is naive.
Gents just a few pointers seeing as at the time of writing the subject of this thread is safely locked away in the garage and unless the nice chap from Germany I’ve been talking to comes up with a big chunk of wedge that’s exactly where she’ll be staying, time to withdraw the advert I think
The first 18 cars had BMW power, mine being one of them. De Tomaso switched to Ford power when they forgot to pay BMW for the engines and are generally considered to fractionally more desirable due to a significant weight saving over Detroit power.
Ugly? Pretty academic as the decision to but it wasn’t much to do with how it looked but rest assured it has considerable presence on the road. The Guara gives you something completely different, a fear of pranging it with absolutely no parts availability, rarity and handling which is out of the top draw and just knowing you are driving something truly different.
The car now has the protective plate installed behind the right-hand light assembly as the guy it was acquired from couldn’t find it last summer when I bought the car. You don’t actually get much pinging around the front of the car but you certainly do in the engine bay when a bit of gravel sounds like an airgun pellet.
As for the number plate ‘ORAL’ it has been removed as I got a fair bit of grief from ‘Er indoors’ so when putting pics on the advert I wasn’t to concerned one way or the other.
DeTomaso developed a car that was both lightweight with reliable mechanicals and handling out of the top draw, sound familiar to you boys? The only problem is when they launched it and how much they tried to charge for it

As for battery location, there are other cars with worse positions. A friend has some sort of VAG diesel that has the battery under a impossible to remove cover jammed into the far rear of the engine bay. I think thats more awquard.
