I'm currently rebuilding the front of my car after an accident and am looking for a pair of rad fans. Does anyone have a pair of fans from a Chim 500 going spare? My motors are fine just need new blades and guards. Neither Bellhill or douglas valley have any at present.

I have found a place on ebay who sell spal fans with similar spec to the chim 400 units http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=160162287014&Category=43120
Any opinions?

Have been using std chim 400 fans with a 500 engine for some time with an upgraded re-cored rad and not had any probs. Would like to put the 500 spec units in though. Not keen to pay the money that most TVR parts places ask. Would rather use 2nd hand...

Reading through some of the feedback not too sure I would be going there.

Yeah, the feedback is not 100% great. The fans direct from Spal are cheap as well (US Dollar price).

Good man! Didn't think the newer models used a 12" fan as well! All models are 12". Just not as slim.

Is £70 plus vat inc carriage unreasonable for a new one?

Thats about the right price. Have looked at many places now. Spal direct is good price because of the weak dollar. Also new Pacet units are around the £70 mark for the high flow 12" units too. Most of the TVR parts retailers ask around £150 plus vat. That is unreasonable.

Are the later model TVRs Pacet or Spal? Isn't Pacet a leading british brand and Spal American?

No idea about what make is used on the later models but I doubt it makes any difference. Spal are Italian, never had any problems with their products, although their electric window kits were a bit naff. I am not sure about Pacet, I thought they were French for some reason but you may well be right, used to make decent fuel pumps a while back IIRC.

Without wishing to upset anyone I think some of the TVR parts retailers are how shall we put it, doing ok since the demise of TVR wink
