Want to take the next step and get a set of slicks for my MNR. Don't fancy going down the part worn route, but am struggling to find a supplier of new slicks on the net.

Thanks for your help.

Max.

What car have you got ? What size are you after ? What do you want slicks for ! Circuit or drag racing ?

Circuits, have been running Toyo R888s and now fancy trying slicks. Have got a 7 type kit running 13" wheels, need 195 front 205 rear.

Thanks.

Do not totally rule out used ones, unless you are racing against people using brand new slicks then it is not really an issue. I used to get AVON 13" from Miller Motorsport for £60 A SET! £10 delivery. From Radicals, most had just done one heat cycle for one qualifying session and had masses of tread left. Sacrilage really.

Like furyblade lee says, don't dismiss part worn slicks.
Have a look at
http://www.sticky-slicks.co.uk
They have part worn slicks from £10-£15 upwards including
16-53-13 and 20-54-13 which could fulfill your requirements although you only quote a required section, not overall height.
They sell on fleabay also.
Why buy brand new just for a tryout? You may have problems with slicks like oil surge or suspension mounts cracking or breaking off, all due to the greatly increased G forces.
Body roll will increase, you may need stiffer springs or stiffer anti roll bars.
An alternative might be AVON ACB10's. These could be a halfway house between 888's and slicks, although I've never experienced 888's so I might be wrong.
But beware, slicks are seductive creatures. Once bitten, forever smitten.
Geoff.

Hello fellow MNR owner.

I've gone for the Michelin part-worns from sticky-slicks on the basis that someone told me that they are massively stickier than R888s even when part worn.. plus they only cost me £60 delivered (for four!) so no matter what, they'll be fine for the running-in phase. As you may have guessed, I can't really comment yet because there are a few jobs and a suspension set-up to complete before its first outing (and exams for my Masters Degree getting in the way!)

Is your car red with a full cage by any chance?

Cheers

Thanks for your replys, I'll have a look at those sites and get some ordered. Need to do some general maintenance before booking any track days but will definately post my first impressions.

Tim.C, it is red with full cage, have you seen it somewhere? Think it's on the MNR web site under owners cars. Which model and spec have you got?

Hi
Your car was at MNR either when I ordered or when I collected my kit.
Mine is an RT+ with a carb'd R1 motor:

Looking forward to finally testing those slicks myself!

I use part worn slicks Michelin from sticky-slicks and have for the last couple of years , first them I will say is they are fantastic value for money and much cheaper than runnin off road tyres, but dont expect them to be as good as new slicks, Ive back to back tested them against my 888s on a bec westy and they are around 1 second per lap quicker when first fitted and after a few trackdays the same pace as 888s, but they do feel better and more confidence inspiring . Ive heard people buying new slicks will see a couple of secs a lap gain but obviously unless you have deep pockets and change every race , its not an option for me at the price they are new frown

Car looks great Tim, you planning on tracking it this year?

Found Polley Motorsport supply Yoko slicks, but I need another set of rims so the combination would prove very expensive.

Thanks for your replies.
