Hi mate, that was me. I guess that was you following me to the airport in the black VXR? I haven't seen another Monaro for ages so I'm afraid I might have got a little excited

Cheers. If I leave the TC on I can't get into too much trouble! Your VXR is rather nice too. I take it you work at Monarch? I'm at easyJet; small world eh?

I guess then, that you guys are in the aircraft industry. I know of a couple of others that are aswell, including myself. Are you in engineering, if so, could this have a bearing on the choice of vehicles driven?

Afraid not, I'm in I.T - I manage the web site although I do envy you guys in the hangars with your spanners; it appeals to my mechanical mind!

Pleasant to see a bit of friendly camaraderie.
You can therefore imagine my feelings this morning. I'm banked up outside a building site in Acton, West London, about 07:45 just having a small cigar before hopping out to meet the guy I'm supposed to meet. Quiet, wide but residential road. To my surprise coming the other way I spot a black (heavily disgused with dirt) VXR with nose holes. Rare as rocking horse shit, I think to myself, me sitting in my black VXR (no nose holes), two 'ros on the same bit of road. I give a couple of big flashes and a little wave. The guy, clearly sees me, I think he might stop for a chat. Nar, zips by flipping me the bird on the way past. Cheers mate!
I don't suppose he's in this forum, don't suppose he's got many mates either......what a tosser!

yeah I spoke to the owner of a silver 56 plate VXR yesterday evening who was in town to photograph the Croatian team training before the friendly this week. Turns out he does a bit of motoring stuff for some of the rags up here and had tried out the VXR8 etc etc Anyway long story short - not interested in the forum, not interested in doing anything with the car. Enjoys the car but moaned his wife preferred the 350z, boot too small for his gear, local service too far away to keep his warranty(!) and no easy way to strap his grandchild in the back. So despite owning one of a very few VXR Monaro's up here - single figures I reckon he's quite happy to carry on doing his own thing. Not everyone I guess is as enthusiastic about the cars as the people on here. The guy that flipped you the bird probably comes into that category.

I agree that there's certainly differing levels of interest. I know I lost too much skin off my knuckles twenty years ago as a young man fiddling around with Ford's and Westfield's to have any enthusiasm for lifting the bonnet (apart from to fill the washer bottle and sigh heavily when I see that 5.7l lump). I can afford to have someone do it for me and I don't appologise for that. I'm happy with the standard performance although I admit I enjoy reading about other people's tweaks and mods. My shock was that he didn't even give a little wave, indeed was downright offensive. Surely, whatever your level of 'committment' to the motor you drive, particularly a rare one (and I've had the odd 'rare' motor), you would acknowledge a fellow owner. Takes all sorts I guess.

He's probably too shy to say hello now, like the fat kid at a party is too scared to admit he ate all the cake.
Dont worry mate, not all Ro enthusiasts are like that... I would of stopped for a chat !

Know what you mean mate, especially if you drive a variety of vehicles. I give the screen an extra wash to make it look like I meant to.
