Ive noticed a bit of a wobble from the driver's side top engine cover, so armed with tool kit I thought Good Friday morning would be a good day to expand my DIY skill set (undo hex screw, slide the 'clip' back under the bodywork, screw back down, job's a goodun).

Unfortunately, it seems the 'clip' has snapped off frown

It looks like an easy enough job to replace said clip (with some SuperGlue/Liquid Metal etc) but I have no idea where to get a replacement clip from (if there is such a thing?).

Anyone offer some advice or will it be a case of bodging something in there that will do the trick?

Fubes - what do you mean by engine cover ?

The bit round the wipers ?
The bit round the washer bottle ?

Pic of what you've broken might help us ! wink

I'm guessing it's the bit that slips under the front deck. U shaped clip that's bonded onto the back of the top engine cover.

That'll teach you to threaten your car with a toolkit Nick! biggrin

Spot on Tim.

Rummaging around my old man's shed Ive found some thick aluminium that I think can be shaped to fit, then bonded in with some liquid metal. Wont look pretty but should do the job. Might let my DIY proficient BiL at it rather than make a right balls up myself.

Scary stuff this DIY malarky yikes

Mine is broken on one side too - apparently it is very common. I have some of that rubber foam stuck in the centre of the scuttle panel thingy, so the bonnet sits snuggly and holds it firmly in place.

Hope that might be of some use as an option Fubar smile.

So did you do it yourself? Or did you retire hurt to the bar?

We want proof that you actually have a tool kit, Fubes! wink

Too cold in the garage and there muist be some sport to be watched over Easter so no, havent done it yet.

I like the sound of Amazon's bodge, going to go and buy a big tin of expanding foam and see if that does the trick (joking....sorta hehe)

rofl Yes it is...typical...see this a couple of hours after Ive done a magnificent 'bodge' using an L-shaped metal bracket, an angle grinder and some Aryldite!

Still, good to know when the next one snaps smile
