Guys - thinking of purchasing a 360 and trading in my 996. My question is - will the maintanence cost be greater higher than experienced on a 996 ?

Thanks in advance.

Oh, yes. Worth it for the noise alone though. But don't try using it like a 911. A 360 is not an everyday car. If you use it as such your running costs will be horrific.

360 will cost more to run. If you puts lots of miles on it, it will depreciate badly as well.

I drove both back to back recently and there is no comparison bw them - the 360 is far superior IMO.

Oh yes. But you aren't comparing like with like. You can run a 911 and do 10,000 miles per annum for four or five years and then sell it without catastrophic depreciation. Ignore depreciation and the F car will cost twice as much to run. That is my guess, I have a 996 cabriolet and a 360 Modena.

Finnaly, some honest replies about a Ferrari 360 costing more to run than your everyday performance car,i think someone posted approx £3k a year which seems reasonable i guess. I have done 10k miles in 8 months in the Porsche and i have not even added a drop of oil to the car,(radiator cracked but was sorted under warranty) i totally understand the hype behind the 911's and they trully are an everyday sportscar though i know that the Ferrari would give you a sense of occasion and excitement that a 911 could never give bar maybe the GT3/RS models.

I have also recently contemplated the move up to a 360 but i would be looking at using the car for the daily commute which is maybe not ideal - or maybe it is.

depends on mileage and use - I previously ran a GT3 and did many trackdays - cost much much more to run than my 360 which only gets exercised on sunny days and no track days....

Ferrari's are more expensive to run than 911's for sure.
I'd weigh it up like this, buy a 911 if you want a really well engineered every purpose car, they are superb. But, I found them a bit inert and lacking character, the Ferrari is just a different thing altogether, and really make you grin like an idiot everytime you drive it. Worth the money every time.

I would want to use the car everyday if I had to spend c£50k to purchase it (around 8k miles per annum).

I heard the F355 was pretty poor for everyday use, but the 360 was built for the daily run? Which is why it entered my thinking. Sounds like a bit of ferrari hype ?

Love the 911 to bits and the drive is awesome - but something about the Ferrari really appeals - just don't want stupidly high running costs or crazy depreciation.

I use my 355 very frequently and dont find it bad to use on a daily basis, starts first time, not that horrific on petrol etc. 8k miles a year is doable in any of these cars, but you'll just pay more money than you would on a 911 in terms of servicing, and depreciation if you really chuck the miles on it.

I say go for it, these cars are made to be driven, not sat gathering dust.

I've had two 911s and love them to bits, however my 360 has the build quality and chassis of the 911 but so much soul compared to the 911. I'v just returned from a 2500 mile trip to the south of france and not had to top up any oil or coolant.

The servicing may be a bit more but owning a ferrari is as important as being present at the birth of your kids. Buy one and you'll never regret it.

It is possible that like Porkers the more they are driven the less they go wrong, storage and garaging seems to cause problems ?

yes Just passed 120,000 kms this weekend driving Used every day of the year. Commute through London mon-fri in traffic. I've been on the same clutch now for the past 70,000 kms too!
The car will deff do it - just a question of you being willing to use every day (and have a good relationship with Shell) hehe
£3K a year is about right.
