I had a Snooper SLD920 fitted a few months ago. Since then it has only sounded its alarm once, a few days after it was fitted. Yesterday I spotted a Talivan with the back doors open (lasering/filming I assume) and I did not hear even a chirrup from the unit. Makes me think it is not working anymore. Does anyone know of a foolproof way of checking the thing works without having to find a laser gun?

do yo have a 'Detector' or a 'Jammer'. Totally different machines.

The detector should pick up on radar ie gatso's give some warning and if its direct lazer attack into the unit it depends on where its fitted and by then its too late anyway they have your speed.

If its a Jammer then you most likely wil have 2 units set next to the number plate, and in this case you would not expect it to go off very often as it is then 'activly working' ie jamming from there you should immediatly get to the speed limit and turn it off to allow a reading.
Please dont drive with it 'working' without turning it off a few seconds later- you will ruin it for the rest of us.

From experience, turn it off most of the time, ie towns and use it sparingly.

"Leave it off most of the time?"

Kind of defeats the object ... Are you saying that you decide you are going to speed so then you switch it on?!

I think the point is not to take the p155, if it goes off and you are a little over the limit, lift, get to the limit or under and switch it off.

If you are alert then you shouldn't need it anyway - the only time I have seen a jammer go off was after the driver had spotted the trap so slowed down to 68, then the buzzer went off and the driver just switched the unit off.
