Anyone able to give me a quick pointer to where the engine loom routes through to the footwell?

Following back from the fuseboard/ecu, the thing snakes alongside some pipework, then goes up below the dash towards centre...I'm assuming it drops through the tranny tunnel there somewhere but can't see/feel where. From engine side, again it seems to appear in that general region but a bit difficlt to be sure.

Trying to strip it out (at least as much as will be redundant) intact but am beginning to think this is not likely to be achievable. Also want to thread the new Emerald one through so guess I could use part of the old to pull through the new...

The V8S engine loom goes through the bulkhead above and behind the #7 exhaust header. This takes it into the passenger footwell in the void behind the dashboard. I would guess the Chim one goes through in the same general area, but given you have the ECU at one end and the engine at the other can't you just follow the loom along to see where it goes?

Pupp, on mine, a 95N, the wiring loom goes through on the left-hand side (when lookin from the inside), immediately above the transmission tunnel. Prior to it passing through into the engine side you'll find a big connector, where it joins the loom from the engine. HTH

The gromet is just around the corner from the foot well, pull the carpet back abit. If you follow it back past the heater pipes it goes around the corner toward the centre console and about 6-8" in goes through a gromet. You will probably find that the tube has been taped to the gromet which is a real pain to get off. Took me a day to remove all the engine loom as there are a few wires to dash gauges and alternator that need to stay.

Have fun!!!!!

You'd think it would be just that easy wouldn't you... the crucial 18 inches or so is pretty well inaccessible!

Thanks for the pointers. Any more?

Its only the wiring for the purge valve that goes down the side over the wheelarch AFIK. The grommet in the footwell is only for the wiper motor, all the engine loom on mine is at a series of connectors behind the stereo and go through the grommet in the centre of the bulkhead between the Vees (bit trick to get to with plenum etc in place..)

Thanks Dave... can see where you mean... reckon I might get to it if I pop the throttle gubbins off the back of the plenum. . Something to do in the snow tomorrow smile
