Not quite as mad, avoid like the plague where possible, although living in the North sometimes makes this difficult! Got showered on by hailstone this morning and yesterday but only for a short time. My tiv has a fairly easy time.....

Yep...out in it unravelling and tracing the engine loom back to the footwell. Slowly filling three buckets with yucky slimy insulation tape bits, hard plastic loom split sheathing, redundant wiring/connectors, and snow/hail. With regular warm-ups it's fine smile

Get a load of cheap stitch cutters (seam rippers?) from haberdashers or Errindoors sewing box, they open up loom tape in no time at all wink

Tend to only work on the Griff in it's heated and carpeted garage although I do get to practice on my lads car on the drive when he breaks it which is far too often !

I built a kit car outside in all weathers. It was freezing, literally, when I put the gearbox on with a friend and managed to trap my hand. It was held by two rough welds. We had been messing around trying to get the nuts to nip the bolts for over an hour and, as I didn't fancy having to try again, I just pulled my hand free.

But, being so cold, I didn't feel a thing. I put some cloth over the cuts and carried on. When we had finished I was reluctant to go indoors as I knew the pain would start then. And it did. I still have the scars.

Few years back, bin working in my unheated garage for about 8 hours,
screwdriver slipped, and straight through my hand yikes .

Much swearing, then tied nearest oily rag around it, and back to hammering and banging. hehe

My wife phoned my mother to complain and get advice.

"He's down the garage polishing inside the bonnet and it's 3am, is that normal?" said the wife.

"Is he making a noise" asked my mum?

"no" said the wife.

"I had the neighbours complain about the noise of the doors slamming" said mum. "His father used to take the doors off to re-hang them until they all shut with the same sound".

"just go to sleep, you won't change them, I gave up after the first 30 years"

Spent about 20 mins in the snow mopping the garage floor to clean off the muddy tyre tracks.

Spent hours in the rain/wind/freezing cold etc working on my R5 Turbo, my first car on the road. I did the headgasket 3 times as i experimented with the power. Thinking about it, before that when i was 15 i had a bright yellow Fiat 126, changed the engine with my bare hands in all weathers in my nans shed, then drove it to destruction all winter round her field! But, now that im older and more sensible (27) i sat out in the snow yesterday going through all the stereo wiring to find out why the amp wouldnt work in the Cerbera, fixed that. So, today as its white over again outside, i thought id clean it before it goes off to the trimmers next week mad Some things just dont change, your just obsessed....

A variation on this - when I finished leathering it off inside the garage the hail started and blew in underneath the eaves which meant I could start all over again - hurrah! mad
