gear gaiter removal

Hi I want to take off the gear knob and leather gaiter on a m3 e46,has anyone done this before.

It should just lift off. There are clips surrounding the gaiter and with some care just pull up sharply, same with the gear knob. Easy to achieve.

Try not to hit yourself in the face while pulling the gear knob off. (In fact get someone to video it, will you ?)

I have tried for fuggin' ages to get my knob off but now too scared that I am going to damage the linkage. Is there a hidden scrw or circlip?

You just need to give it a really hard tug (ooo errr)
Get a watchmakers screwdriver and spray some WD40 up inside to help release it. Worth only really doing if you are replacing for a new one which pops on with a firm slap using the palm of your hand.
