Been out for a drive this morning and went through my usual procedure of waiting for the car to get up to 85c before pushing on.

After around 20 miles and nearing home the MIL came on and stayed on (at no point did it flash), I reduced my speed and drove home steady away (around 2 miles) via Christopher Neils (CN) on the off chance it was open (it wasn't).

When I got home I left the car turned off for around 10 minutes. Went back just now and the light is still on when the car was fired up, nice level of oil and coolant and that is where my knowledge ends.

Any pointers or thoughts as to what I should do next?

I will obviously be taking the car back to CN when they open up and luckily I am traveling for the next two weeks so don't need the car but any pointers are welcome. Thanks

Not sure about the toyota engines but on the K-series 4 restarts and the MIL light goes out (needs to be driven for a bit, you just cant start and turn off the ignition 4 times). If not flashing i wouldn't worry too much. Just get CN to read the codes when you drop it into them next time.

It will be fine, just drive as normal and it will reset itself after a few outings.

Yeah its fine just driving it like you normally would. It has happened to me twice now and hasnt restricted anything. I got it checked out at a dealer the first time and they said one of the cylinders missfired and the second time it just reset itself after about 6 outings.

Yeah the same happened to me today, not worried about it, like other posters say a few restarts will get it off, just one of the usual "they all do that sir" Lotus foibles - get used to it dude! cool

Yep, me too. Exactly the same scenario going to Goodwood a couple of weeks ago. Car engine was purring but MIL light was on. After half and hour I started it up and it was off and has been fine ever since. I think it is just highly sensitive electronics.

well the light was still present yesterday evening after a couple of days and numerous drives. I did pop to CN and they said not to worry, keep driving and considering I am getting a service very soon I will be fine to get the light reset then.

I am not driving the car for the next week as I am out the country so hopefully the light will have gone when I next drive her.

Had my first one today, on my first day of Exige ownership - both times due to idle speed.

Well a week on and I drove the car for the first time in 6 days today but the static MIL light persists.

Back to the dealers I think

It takes re starts and drives to reset not leaving it undriven for 6 days. Take it to the dealer if your still unsure but it will eventually reset itself.

I agree with Bob, but we are of course assuming that there is no fault.....

exactly. Managed to take the car out twice over the weekend and now I have to go away for another weeks business so will try to get the car to the dealers by week end.

I will be back to update

CN said that the car had experienced an unpredictable misfire.

There was no apparent cause for the misfire and the car has functioned flawlessly since. All is well that ends well and today’s rain dodging roof off blast confirmed that.

I really love my car
