HSBC have some great offers running until the end of March, you should try them, I've had a couple of clients join them and have fantastic service during the switch over. If you would like me to speak with a contact and find out who your local new business manager is in Nottingham then drop me an email.

I have used HSBC for the last ten years, never had a problem, although negotiate hard to get the percentage fee down, by playing one provider off against another...

It tends to work out cheaper if you purchase the terminal yourself and use a 3rd party payment provider, rather than relying on a package from the bank.

We supply terminals from Verifone:

and then recommend our customers contact YESpay to arrange an account:

That looks interesting. I've only had a quick look but couldn't see much mention of charges, how do they tend to compare with the likes of Streamline etc? (I know the rates vary according to business type).

Do the terminals standalone with phoneline or do they need to be attached to a PC?

Looking at needing to take cards in the future when I move premises (PC Repairs) & start doing more 'walk-in' retail stuff but might be handy to have in place before that too if the charges weren't too horrendous for the current workshop collections.

The Verifone/YESpay solution works very well. Costs vary depending upon volume of transactions but a rough guide of £20 per 1200 transactions is their starting point.

Credit card transactions are processed over a broadband internet connection using the terminal. If you wish to integrate this into your point of sale system it would need to be close to the PC or till.

Again, we recommend POS software from Actinic:

As mentioned above, if chip and pin isn't important or you will be doing lots of card-not-present transactions; the 'virtual' terminal solution from Protx is worth looking at.

Thank you all for inputs so far, so many deals out there! I think I'm going with gprs chip'n'pin unit (Bought outright) and the best deal I can get....alot of phone calls ahead before this one's sorted.
Cheers,
Supes.
