Does anyone have the specification for minimum thickness on front discs and pads?

My S type has started vibration on front when under braking

Removed wheels today and offside front disc has severe pitting for around 70-90 degrees on outer disc face

What is confusing is the "pitts" are almost like craters, not connected but individual areas of irregular shape
Any body know of casting defects on Jaguar S type discs?

I know I have to change the disc and pads but i am in discussion (argument?) with garage i bought it from; they put 12 months MOT on car and i have done 6000 miles in it in nearly 4 months (Purchased December 07) and they are saying its not there problem.

Pock marks like that are the result of discs standing, going rusty then when you use the brakes it scours the rust off & causes the scabs you're seeing.
I've just got discs & pads for the front & rear pads off of a guy on E Bay for around £70 for the fronts. They're genuine Mintex as well.

This is the number for 280211518934 the discs & pads.

I don't reckon after 6,000miles & 4 months you have a hope as it'll be deemed wear & tear.

The minium thickness of the disc's will be cast into the back of the disc bell/top hat.
There is no minium thickness for brake pads. All you can do is advise if they will reach the next service or not. ( would say to change if less than a 33% left)

The minimum thickness for the discs is 28mm front and 18.5mm rear,
Jaguar specify a minimum of 2mm for the pads front/rear.

What year is your car ? if you are repalcing the discs, and spending all that money, i would fit new pads. ARe they original jaguar pads fitted, someone might of fitted incorrect pads and therefore overheated and warped discs. Why didn't you post on the jag forum ?? From memory, but dont quote me, 28 mm min thickness, someone og the jag forum will be able to tell you.
