OK - panic over. Apologies for starting the thread before checking it all out thoroughly!

Official rebuttle of this from the Red Arrows web site saying that it is false...
www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/index

Complete madness......See below, and then sign the petition on the Downing Street web site to help them see sense!!

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed "too British".

Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be "offensive" to other countries taking part in the Games.

The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team "too militaristically British".

Red Arrows pilots were said to be "outraged", as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being "too British" is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain.

The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world. The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.

It is to be hoped that common sense prevails, so if you disagree with this decision, please sign the petition on the link.

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/RedArrows2

Please forward this on to everyone you can.

And just in case you need reminding why......

The classic Red, White and Blue!

Not only the Red, White and Blue, but taken in a display in Saudi Arabia! If they can do it there, why can't they do it here?

Awesome!

Totally agree BO55...... be careful of what you read/believe. Although, it's a sad state of affairs when people readily believe something that 10 years ago would have been unthinkable, but these days is quite plausible...

I have signed a load of these petitions now, including the one against Road tolls along with 1.7 Million other people.

The result is always the same.

A crappy email a few days later explaining how I and the other signaties or wrong and misguided and the Government is going to ignore us and do what it wants anyway. Welcome to democracy!

So fk 'EM!

Let them do what the fk they want.
One day they will want something from me, my support or help and they aint gonna get it!

Sorry to the guys from the Red Arrows.
I really do feel sorry for you guys.
I have seen several displays and am always in Awe of your skills but now you know what an embarrasment our Gov't thinks you are, maybe you might remember that when they want do you.

signing the petition has about as much chance of getting the Red Arrows to display at the olympics as I have of being one of the Pilots

I almost have given up on this country.
My house abroard is calling me louder and louder, every time the damn taxes go up.
The V.E.D. tax raise might just be the final straw that broke the camels back.
