Evening all.

I've just spent the day tinkering with my Westfield with a view to MOT and then sell it in the next few weeks. Over the last few years I've lost touch with westfields and I'm wondering whats a realistic asking price, I've had a look through the classifides here and also on a few other sites and I'm thinking £5000 (probably wouldnt want to take less than £4750).

I know its impossible to give an accurate price without a view - but just want to check I'm being realistic first.

Basically:

1992 1700 x-flow standard body
Dark Blue
13,500 genuine miles (mots to prove)
5 speed
Healthy engine - big valves, top end rebuild a few 1000K ago (sounds awesome for a 4 pot!)
Twin 40 Dellorttos
brand new Toyo R888's
very rare rims
Spax - Independent rear
Good trim & full carpeted with harnesses
VDO dials
Grey Tonnau, side screens & roof

I've owned it last 11 years, never raced, always garaged, loads of history and bills (£1000 spent at Dome Motorsport). Bought from Terry Nightingale's and was a very tidy build. Been GREAT fun and never let me down.

Bad points:
Body has a few minor scuffs
Rear Window A bit frosty
A bit of laquer lifting on the wheels
There seems to be some water marks on the bonnet that I hope can be polished.

Westfield pricing has taken a hit in recent years as there has been an influx of cheaper cars from the Locost boys. Nothing wrong with them by the way. The knock on is that Westfield prices have dropped now there are some cheap cars around. Your car whilst undoubtedly fine is a narrow body I presume which is less desirable, although prettier. It should be worth £5k but I supect it will struggle to make that when there are cars around that are newer, faster engines and wide bodied for a grand more. Even with these cars some are breaking them as the sum of parts is greater than the whole in the secondhand market especially with high end engines.
Get it cleaned up and take it to Stonleigh in May lots of people with cash to spend and if it is a nice day the enthusiasum is high. My guess would be nearer £4k but on a good day £5k is not unreasonable.

I agree. I very nearly bought a similar car 3 years ago for £4500.

I would have thought between 4 and 5k too.

The wings may be a sticking point too so I'd consider taking the wings off and buying some stays and cycle wings. It's very easy to do and I think you'll get better results having done it than explaining to someone how easy it is for them to do it.

Mine was done using some plain black cycle wings and the holes along the side were filled using small stainless dome screws...

If the rear window has just gone a bit white then try polishing it with car polish. I did this on my old tvr and it came completely clear. Cleaning the roof, applying some roof colour and then painting it with waterproofer makes an old roof look a hundred times better too.

Many thanks guys - thats a great heads-up and just what I was looking for.

I took it for a little blast today, and all being well it should walk its new MOT.

I'll get an advert up here in the next few weeks and see how it gets on + a possible trip upto Stoneleigh in May.

PS: sorry if this looked like a 'For Sale' post, I was just testing the water.
