Not noticed any yet - apart from some mounting bolts on the exhaust clamps - but how are the oldest Monaros in the fleet faring? Any problems underneath as I remember it was said that the underbody protection was not A1 compared to other European marques.

The metal straps securing the lower part of the front spoiler, I keep meaning to take them off and make new ones from aluminium instead.

The underbody itself of my 25k-mile 2004 is clean as a whistle, but various bits bolted to it - axle, etc, look a little ropey. I remember an MoT tester telling me that this is typical of modern cars though, even some very expensive ones.

Is it worth waxoyling the whole underbody like I did with my classic yank?

the thing is if you waxoil the car even though it is better than the standard (lack of) sealant it can void the corrosion warranty. Having had the mispleasure of Vauxhalls warranty claims proceedure I'd ignore that and do it.

hi it was rustbusters in ringwood road, poole dorset a bit pricey but he does everything and i mean everything inside the doors inside the door pillars you name it he even gave the diff a coat of clear he normally does camper vans ect... hes very thoughrough its all or nothing with him because as he said to me its alright doing the bits you can see but all that hapens is that the water runs of the waxoiled bits into the corners and starts corosion from there so you gotta get right into everything

Is that near Charlie Trents place or is that gone now? How much did it cost?

Anyone ever found any worthwhile alternatives to the plastic 'buttons' that hold the plastic inner mudguards in? Just had mine off again for the routine Waxoyl, and they really are naff. They are supposed to unscrew in the middle, then pop out, but I think most of them either go round and round, or the plastic Pozidrive heads have long since became round - I think most of them have been like that since new!

So now, everytime the mudguards come out, the plastic buttons have to get manipulated like buttons on a shirt collar, until the mudguard slips over them. Someday, something is going to snap....

These clips are a bit like the ones holding the top cover over the radiator, except that these are supposed to unscrew, rather than have the centre part prised outwards...

Anyone ever found any clips that do what the say on the box, dont break when you try to remove them, and can be re-used time after time?

p.s. In answer to the original question, mines as clean as a whistle underneath, but thats hopefully at least part down to regular Waxoyling and copper grease on all bolts and fittings. Seeing the amount of salt that Orkney Islands Council use in lieu of proper snowclearing, its the only answer!

Who does your waxoyling in Orkney Bryan? If it's yourself, what garage would you reccommend?

I have a 56 Plate Monaro VXR looks good underneath, but I have also been told that rust proofing is not a strong point with these cars.
The only problem I have is that the std brake discs are corroding on the painted bell section, it just looks crap, has anybody else experienced this? If so have you managed to solve it realtively cheaply?

Do it myself - At least then you can be sure its done right, and not just a quick spray on the surface! Mind you, it does take the best part of 6 or 7 hours to do the underside with an airline sprayer by the time you take the mudguards out, mudflaps off, get it all on stands (must get a lift someday...), bag off the brakes and what not.

Couldn't recommend anyone to be honest, as I rather do these things myself!
