For my LS6 Cerbera in NZ I need something like these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/?ViewItem&item=16021971628...
but must be e-marked (or off a mass-produced vehicle) to get through the NZ SVA-equivalent process.

Alternately anyone know of another subtle way to light a rear number plate which is flush on the body without mounting a lamp on the bodywork? The TVR method of backlighting a semi-opaque plate is illegal here.

Cheers
Don

I used something similar on my LSIS, but it didn't need an SVA, so I didn't really care (the MOT guys loved it though).

I have to admit that I haven't seen anything like it e-approved - can't you use something and then replace it later on?

That's an option - perhaps something mounted on a plate that is sandwiched between the license plate and the body and projects lamps out the sides or over the top of the plate?

Thanks Rob - these look perfect but can't find anything on the seller's websites to say they're e-marked?

That's because they are not but, for SVA you have no number plate to light up so it isn't an issue. I think I put them on for the SVA but wasn't queried about them.

Ah.... if only the process here in New Zealand was as easy as SVA! I need to have a light and it needs to be e-marked. If I replace it afterwards it may go unnoticed at the (6-monthly) MOT check so I'm thinking what I need is smething that can be fitted with the number plate mounts so as not to drill holes.

Have you tried a trip to the scrappies, and cheating. If its like here they look for the e-mark on the lens, so why not only give them the lens and set the unit into the bodywork. I did theis years ago on a 7 and it also looked far better than the aftermarket stuff. ironically the tester thought it looked great and didnt look further than that.

SVA inspection manual section 9.1 Annex 1 lists what lights are required, Quantity, position, colour etc.
There is a column showing what E marking a light should have.

A number plate light is required, white, positioned to adequately illuminate the plate and the E marking box is empty so is not required.
