Throttle Cable snapped

What is the type/spec for the cable? Mine snapped on start up this morning - happy to do the work but need to get replacement - assume it is off the shelf??

You will only ever need one of them if you modify the pedal box so it doesn't saw the cable utill it fails.

Just bend the tab that holds the cable up by 3mm

Throttle cables...so been there

Drove mine home on 2" of frayed cable wire operated by hand somewhere around my knee in 2nd gear when mine went

The fiancee really wasnt best pleased as we were off out for the evening!

Just sat in the car to check cable - working fine.

So, what is the reason for that: if the cable was frozen then it should not have traveled at all - and the throttle pedal was as limp as a rabbits ears... I flicked it back and forth with the tips of my fingers, no resistance whatsoever.

Puzzled in Aberdeen.

Richard, is car working now, did you not need the new throttle cable? Very strange...

Graham, what tab should I bend up by 3mm? Is it the where the end of outer cable is bolted to the bracket? Is it the exit angle of the inner cable that frays against bracket causing it to snap? My Tuscan had 3 throttle cables replaced before previous owner re-routed cable and fixed problem.

Air box off job first then:-

Just slacklen the cable first at the throttle bodies, then bend the tab that holds the cable outer in the photo up by 3mm with an adjustable spnner jaw, then tighten but not tension the cable .

3 hours later, skinned knuckles, multiple expletives Took the bracket off, bent it, refitted, took bracket off, bent it ........

Should have followed an old maxim - if it aint broke don't fix it..... I should stick to IT!

Thanks Graham, clear detailed pictures as ever, hopefully cable will be fine now, I lubed up the end with a little copperslip as well.

Too late I know but just bend it up with an adjustable spanner, don't take it off!

I shall seek advice first before I delve in! Well Richard did turn up at Knockhill today, throttle cable suitably unfrozen. Pity about the weather as none of us went on track!
