Not a happy bunny......a day after I get back from the poophole that is Iraq, I pick the car up and drive home to wales. A 3 and a half hour rattling from the gearbox ensues and i'm not liking what i'm hearing.
ATS and National tyres confirm my pax side cat has gone but they can't get a replacement for it.
I'm only up here till Sunday before I go back down to Swindon so i'm thinking who can I go to to get it replaced. I was thinking of phoning monkfish soon anyway to enquire about brakes and the ripshifter so should I ask them and leave it like it is until I visit (is it safe to drive like it is for two or so weeks?) or to try and see if somewhere like Picador's can do it for me?

Any help appreciated

probably not - unless you've had a Milltek exhaust fitted. Roger took a look at my exhaust and reckons it connects to the cats in the same position as the 6.0 VXR. Last time I was down and popped into Monkfish they had a huge pile of old VXR and CV8 exhausts lying around, I'm sure LSV or RapidGB will probably be the same. Someone will have their old cats lying around. Might have to part with a few quid though as the local scrapyards pay around 50 quid each for cats.

Have you tried Slaters? They've been pretty quick at getting parts for me recently ~(Centre console tim, trim clips etc). Thousand to one chance they might even have one floating about there.

If you do try them, try and get hold of parts dept as early as you can in the morning (9am start for those boys I think). I've got a trip there tomorrow for a new battery.

I had the same problem. I had a local performance exhaust fabricator make up two new custom pieces using Magnaflows for the same price as importing or sourcing OE cats. Just do your research on gas flow to get the right spec.

On the Iraq thing, a proper s*%thole isn't it.

thanks for the advice, I was thinking about phoning slaters but like you said, a thousand to one chance they've got one in stock and a thousand to one I can get it booked in before sunday. I think i'll give monkfish a call in the morning and see if they have any around and if so, get a ripshifter fitted at the same time.

Unless anyone on the forums have a spare passenger side one lying about by any chance?

Cool, phoned Monkfish yesterday and they've said they've got loads of spare exhausts in stock, and I was also pleasantly supprised in how cheap they were offering to replace it for. So much so that i'm going to get a ripshifter fitted at the same time......yey!

Longlife made the cats up for me. I needed some smaller ones as the Miltek ones were just too large to be practical over speed bumps etc. I believed they worked with Wortec on the early systems but this appears to be wrong. 500 quid for the pair - if you want my advice get them made in section pieces so you can easily remove and replace the cats at a later date without having to keep cutting them out.
