Electric Polisher Recommendation

As someone who doesn't enjoy the elbow grease aspect of car cleaning I've been thinking about buying an electric polisher to make waxing easier. I don't want to spend hundreds as it won't be used every week but am aware that bad models could potentially damage the paintwork.

Does anybody have any good recommendations for a cheap, reliable polisher?

Most people have purchased a Porter Cable polisher from Autopia in the US who ship to the UK and then all you need do is change the plug and buy a 110v adaptor. However there is now a Meguiars G220 Dual Action polisher available for around £140 including a couple of heads for polishing and waxing. I am not sure how reliable it is and I prefer the PC myself which has been tried and tested to destruction.

machine polishing does not always just make life easier. They are designed to give the ultimate effect and correct paintwork issues such as swirl marks, but you have to remember this is only acheivable with the correct heads, products and speed. If you simply want a machine to this a silverline orange polisher is as good as any out there, but you will also need depending on the paintwork condition possible 3 types of heads and 3 types of polishes.

If you are simply looking at making the car look better then maybe changing the products you are buying to something very easy to apply i.e Swissvax or Dodo.

You'll still need a 110V transformer, but that's the case wherever you buy a Porter Cable from.

A suitable unit will set you back about £40 from somewhere like Screwfix.
