Std vs Modified.
Discussion
I haven't. Not sure what the standard output for 04 VXR is 'bout 380 HP I think. More than enough for me and more than most motors. I've sat at 160mph in Europe, comfortably, with two fat bastards three sets of golf clubs and three grips as well as me. I've driven 8 straight hours (one stop for squirt) and got out and played golf. No stiff back, nothing. It makes me smile though when I see the guys have got 500+ horses under the bonnet. Amazing what can be done relatively inexpensively...You gotta love V8's. I bought my motor for comfort & boot size primarily believe it or not. It's a fantastic GT. The fact that it has great mid range, very reasonable top end and even lifts it's frock and gets off the line to 60 in about 5.5 secs (not bad for a ton and 3/4's) just makes me smile. All that for 25k and a traded in Wrangler in August 2005. Nuff said.
I have a totaly standard Ro - 06 plate (so lost a boot
).
I've only had it a few months and appart from the invest, emt in some new tyres soon the only thing I want is a quick shifter. Extra power would be nice but somewhat wasted on my daily runs up and down the Queens highway.
Have the bile for out and out scary speed LOL

Nope no mods at all, totally standard CV8.Did think about having a few extras but to be honest it's quick enough for me. Same thoughts as Groutie I really like the long distance cruising ability.Just done over 12000 very happy miles( apart from the recently deceased battery) and hope to have many more
miles to come.
miles to come.I bought my 5.7 VXR last September, totally standard and deliberately so. I chose it over a similar modified one, as at the time I had no intention of modifying it and wanted one that hadn't been 'tampered with' and wouldn't hike the insurance.
I loved the car as it was...however.......within 3 months I'd decided it just didn't sound like it should, and went for the wortec exhaust (which handily included a remap & engine tweaks). I'm not fussed about the extra power, but it is now much more torquey and driveable in the lower rev range (<3000), and means 6th gear is properly useful. It also now sounds the part when burbling away through town or roaring off down the road
It's the first car I've ever had modified, and I'm really happy with it now. I'm glad I did it, though I would probably have been better off buying the modified one in the first place!
The car is definitely special and a keeper, so I can now see myself fiddling with it for years to come - road response pac, ripshifter, etc etc.

The fact that so many cars are modified speaks volumes.
When I took my car back to the small dealership I bought it from (Directors toy with 200 miles on the clock) I let the Director have a spin.
Apart from coming back with a big grin he said the mod`s (RR Pack Rippy SC AP`s ETC) had addressed all his areas of critisim about the car.
I think the mod`s make a great car grinworthy.
IMO the biggest 2 are the RR Pack and the Rippy, TOTALLY transform`s the car into what it should have been.
(I like the std exhaust for driving far more than the one I have now so think hard before replacing that. Although it does sound great! it can drone))

I went for the mega-loud option initally but found it too much for everyday use, so I had the 'silencers' put in and now it's just loud (with no droning)
2004 CV8, standard apart from Road Response Pac and Essential Pac from Monkfish.
I don't need any more performance, hate noisy exhausts, don't like the ripshifter any more than the iffy standard item and the scariest thing about the standard brakes - in my experience - is reading what some other people have to say about them.
I obviously do not drive my car as 'enthusiastically' as many other owners. Although I have driven a heavily modified car, my own car suits my purpose better and I prefer the relative refinement. Perhaps the only real mod I would consider would be to the suspension, as I feel it is rather under-damped.

04 CV8. Totally stock standard.
To be honest, it's already awesome. I like how quick it is. More than fast enough for UK roads. I'm still debating if I should adjust a few things.
Possibilities I'm looking at are RR pack (I think vauxhall used sponge for the bushings : P), Remap (a little more power and mpg isn't a bad thing) and Ripshifter.
Problem for me is that it's so damn far to get mods done. Wortec and RapidGB are both close to Milton Keynes and that's quite a hike from Newcastle.

Still have to say that Wortec exhaust is awesome! Transforms the car from BMWish to Bad Boy Car. Remap necessary on CV8 apparently, but not on 6 litre - drones a bit at 70ish on 5.7, but not, surprisingly on 6 litre. IMHO loud exhaust makes the car sound like it always should have been.
04 CV8
Monkfish Road Response pac
AP Racing brakes
Harrop Diff Cover
LS7 clutch
05 engine covers
Polished stainless manifolds, hi-flow cats, straight through Wortec exhaust (LOUD) and Focus pac remap.
Ripshifter
Altezzer rear lights
HiD's (6000K)
Sounds and goes like I always thought a V8 car should. I'm happy, but I recognise it's not everyone's cup of tea.

drones a bit at 70ish on 5.7
I have a Wortec cat-back and it doesn't drone at all. I also have a 9psi Magnacharger which makes the NA car feel pedestian; if you want an instant 130 bhp boost and a big thump in the back FI is the way to go. Next I'm looking at heads, cam and headers..in no particular order.
