Off to the ring in a couple of weeks so thought I'd invest in some new rubber. Been running on T1-r's and been very happy but decided to give the R888's a go. They arrived today and look the muts but are so tacky I can't see them lasting long. Just wondered if anyone had any experence of their life.

What compound did you get?

A few of the sprinters use them, Jes Firth in particular swears by them on his Cerb'

I'm looking at Dunlop DZ02G as an alternative. smile

Should stop you falling of the circuit. wink

Make sure you have additional silencers, I hear that they're getting very hot on noise levels at the ring.

Ring last weekend :

I note Cerb owning C2HYM opted to take his Audi over hehe

You better hope the weather picks up nicely if you are going over on 888's yikes

As an aside, yesterday I was pointed at a Dutch website offering Proxes R1Rs next to R888s with a listing of available sizes, prices and all so I'd wager to guess they're officially on the market now.

The ring was awesome at the weekend... and C2HYM is quick enough in an Audi, believe me - it was an absolutely terrifying car to be in, so competent - even considering the conditions it was ridiculously sure footed and fast. The Cerbs probably quicker in the dry, but I wouldnt have liked to have been in a Cerb at the same kinds of speeds/ braking distances as that Audi went... stunning. bow

thanks for sharing the ring pics! good stories!

Regarding the semi-slicks, I went, on camskill tyre suppliers reccommendation, for hankook rs2 , wouldnt have rated the brand myself, but this particular tyre is a real sweet nut, very happy with it. Its the most street-use friendly of the semi-slicks, so highly reccommended if, like me, you're mostly street driving with 1 or 2 trackdays a year.

Mmmm, good point, it looks as though the Ring limit is 95db and I'm over that but was hoping to slip under the radar, but if their testing frequently rather than just those revving their nuts off in the car park I'd better organise some silencers. Thanks

Didnt see them test a single car at the easter weekend... just crawl around just over tickover and you should be fine, no throttle blips/decent accel until you're past the cones. One prick in a 405 nearly got checked over as he was revving the nuts off his car for 10mins in the carpark and I believe a porsche may have been tested for noise for similar reasons too..

I wouldnt worry about taking a Cerb there, just make sure you dont attract thier attention with unnecessary revs/ RAF roundals? winkhehe
