SEAC or Chimaera ?
Discussion
Need some help here guys .
Have the chance of a 420SEAC , which would go very well with the 400SE , but Mrs H has got a deep rooted sentimental attachment to the Chimaera , as it was our first Tiv but it now needs money spending .
So come on , lets have all the reasons to get the SEAC , and I should say that the lady loves BIG BAD WEDGES just got to get over the sentiments !!
So here are the options :
1. Keep Wedge , sell Chimaera
2. Keep Wedge , restore Chimaera ( About 5k )
3. Keep Wedge , sell Chimaera , get a real Aramid 420
4. Sell both , buy a boat ( Probably drier than a Tiv !!)
5 . Keep Wedge , give Chimaera to daughter for 21st Birthday in October , and buy SEAC anyway !
Who goes , you decide ( With apologies to Big Brother )

easy don't go half measures, wait for a 450 SEAC and get that as for the Chimaera - sell that and get a Tuscan challenge racer, and while your at it a Speed 12 would be good.
Going back to Chimaera is it really true about Ned the dogs tooth sculpting the indicator reces on it in the design stage in Blackpool ?

Great Thread. Option 5 is Mr. Diplomatic. Daughter will adore you, wife will love you for the gesture you get a SEAC.
I've got a Sh***ged S1 350 - fun but sha**ed, and recently replaced my 89 400 with an 87 420 (part aramid & fully adjustable) SEAC. If I can get the decent fuel and octane booster to stop the pinking it's a rocket ship BUT it's not for the faint hearted (manual steering, low stiff suspension, vvvv loud exhaust). 420/450 IMHO is little in it (450 more rare though early 420 likely to be aramid/adjustable - best deal blag stainless's car - awesome) though note the aramid body cars do get crazzing in the paint - doh!

Hey Nacnud , the Chimaera is by no means a comfy cruiser , well not ours anyway !! Ledas all round wound two stops off full , ride height at the front quarter of an inch lower than standard , and 55's in place of 50's , so low it looks like a Griff front end . Braided all round , green stuff and no power steering , but Mrs H is still suffering sentimental pangs !!
Should find out how much the SEAC will cost tomorrow .
PS Daughter has driven the Chimaera , but if you take her on you have to pick up the uni fees !!

Huge boot, decent ergenomics, most have a relatively smooth ride. What more do you need ?
Bet you can hear your stereo as well!
Seriously though.....
It's only a comfy cruiser in comparison to the rest of the TVR range. Last year I was lucky enough to have spirited rides in PHer rthierry's Chimaera immediately followed by a Red Rose Tuscan. The Tuscan was like a physical assault; it left me with a red mark on my shoulder from the seat belt keeping me in my seat - god that was wild and I'm afraid there is now way I can see a Chimaera doing that!
However, the Chimaera is still as hard as nails compared to most of the opposition

Before you all Lambaste me I have a few Wedges (pickies to yawn to avail at Mania)inc'l the luuurvly 420 SEAC but Mr H if you have the dosh get a Noble. Just driven a full 380 (seen the dyno sheets) M12. Nutter machine - scarey. Why?. Quite, refined, handles, etc, etc but at a ton it feels like 30 (in controlled environment of course). I'd love to do a back to back. Noble M12, T350 & T440.
Get the SEAC you know it makes sense. Just getting the rear wing T cut on mine - got it from the factory and it's Crap!!
