I fancied eating something crispy or crunchy. Missus says I'm craving carbs. "No, I just fancy something realy crunch and crispy". "Have a carrot" she suggested.

But I'm thinking along the lines of crispy (almost burnt) batter, or filo pastry; something baked to soot... is she right, that I'm craving carbs?

Buy some lamb breast. Chop into strips. Roast until crunchy like crackling (it MUST be crunchy else it's horrid). Unbelievable quantities of fat will come out of it and must be poured off regularly during cooking to ensure crispy crunchiness.

Serve with boiled potatoes and whatever veg takes your fancy. Mmmm.

BTW: I am not joking about cooking it until it is crunchy. If you leave it limp it is VILE!

I've heard a company called 'Weber' make a good remedy for that.

She was suggesting that I should try crunching on a set of twin 45s?

Are you on a low carb diet?

When I did the Atkins diet I definitely craved carbs. This would manifest itself as you've described, as in "I want something crunchy". But crunchy bacon / fried courgettes etc were certainly not what I wanted.

Nearest thing I found was vegetable based crisps, but they are foul.

Cheers,

FT.

Reminds about parsnips: honey, roasted to a crisp. Yum.
