I've only had my Chim, for a few months, and it has not yet let me down, but the old TVR rep is still in my mind at times, like now....

In June this year, we are getting married in Austria, and i would really like to drive there and obviously home lol

its a round trip of aprrox 2,500 miles.

Would you trust yours to do this without problems, and is there anything i should consider doing other than a service before the trip ?

I have a 98 450 Chim, up until August last year I was doing a daily commute from North London to Newbury, a round trip of 180 miles a day (M25-M4), I did it for 6 months, never missed a beat, i actually believe she is better for it!

Yes no worries. Just make sure you take a touring kit, bulbs, fuses, fan belt etc just in case.

Congratulations on the forthcoming wedding! thumbup

Jumped in mine with two days notice (couldn't stop an oil leak on my other car in time) and drove down to the South of France across to Italy, up through Switzerland/Germany/Holland and back home. 3000 miles with no problems what so ever, survived the heat in Monaco - I didn't !!

Just give it a good service, take some spares and invest in European breakdown recovery. Then drive and enjoy!

Absolutely!

Speak to your local dealer for a goodie bag of common spares (including something to short out the otter switch should it go), and if you have any mishap any breakdown firm should be able to get you going in no time.

Friend of mine once had a oil pressure problem whilst down in Cannes. Turned from a major problem into an easy fix as he took it to a local a Land Rover garage (who was a bit surprised to see an engine he knew all about in a flashy sports car!!).

Enjoy it - they're at their best touring Europe!

So did I, plus additional few days as well, total of 1,500 miles and all was well, even in the queues getting to the camp site (over 2 hours at an average of 0.5mph) she behaved well.

Did raise the bonnet when trying to get to the pitch when off road as was getting a little warm under there. But all was well.

If a car can stand last years Le Mans queues without misbehaving, it must be good. The biggest test of TVR reliability I could imagine, hours of standing traffic and deluges of rain. Mine didnt miss a beat although I could hardly walk after 10 hours of misery and a meaty clutch to workout the left leg several hundred times.
Im confident to take it anywhere after that.

Furball 5000 in June 2006 (5000km of very hard driving around the Alps) stood up very well until the clutch went on the penultimate day, though this could happen to almost any car.

Last year over 1500 miles around Northern France from Normandy, to Verdun & Reims. Didn't miss a beat!

Drove from Shropshire to Nurburgring non stop (apart from ferry of course)
did 10 laps or so the following day, then drove home non stop the day after that

TVR + European roads = drivingcloud9

as said before, ensure you have some essential spares, and maybe a quick oil change before you go

Drive mine to Bavarian/Austrian border most summers for a month. Do the trip in one go, usually 4000miles for the month. Never had a problem.

160+ on the GPS every morning on the way to work. Flat out through the night when traveling to or from here. Fuel paid for by work smile
