Bought my new Sagaris

BOught my new Moonraker black sagaris yesterday.
Having never driven it, I was a little surprised to find it as stiff and twitchy as it was. You feel everything in the road, bumps, cracks and the rest.
However, now comes the good part. Having had it serviced and MOT'd before I bought it, I thought, sweet.
Having driven from Birmingham to Bristol and then to Reading on my way to London, I thought, great no probs. Then disaster hits. Foot on accelerator at 80mph or so and suddenly lose all drive. Thought gears might have slipped so changed down a gear to see if it would deliver some power; none. Again, slipped down another gear to third; again, no power.
In the end, had to pull over (thank god it was quiet on the motorway) and wait for RAC to tow my car back home. All of this on the first day of TVR ownership - f'ing great. Should I get rid of car because of this? It certainly hasn't given me a lot of confidence in reliability.

Does this mean you didn't test drive this one or you didn't drive one full stop? If its like the Tamora then 18" wheels and tyres like elastic bands are never going to soak up every bump around town.In terms of getting rid of it then it seems a bit early, though I can fully understand at the side of the road waiting for the AA/RAC you would happily have never clapped eyes on it.
I had something similar with my Tamora and it was the bolt that holds the throttle cable on at the engine end had vibrated loose and then off, hence no power. A simple fix and something not necessarily picked up when the car was prepped, so maybe wait and see what the garage say and then decide how much to fume.
Give it some more time to see if you enjoy the ownership experience or not. Ownership is unlikely to be totally painless and if the pain outweighs the pleasure over a longer period of time then maybe it is not for you.....

When I bought my T350, I had a few problems. I also experienced the throttle cable working loose on the engine end like Moulder describes. Lost power accelerating up a slip road onto the A19. Its not my favourite memory. However, once the car was sorted it gave me many happy miles. In fact, when it was on song, it was bloody great!
I now have a Sagaris. I think this handles much better than the T350 due to the wider track and better dampers used - I just have the standard ones, no upgrades. It will twitch about a bit especially at speed but you will be surprised at how quickly you get used to it and your confidence will increase. I actually find it rock solid now I know what to expect. Even in the wet, I've found it pretty good. You need to drive to the conditions of course but its certainly more composed than I expected and traction is much improved compared to my T350.
Hope you get it all sorted and get a fresh start with it. They really are awesome machines. The good weather's coming too so the smile count will increase accordingly!

My next door neighbour has a Sagaris, takes it out every year for its MOT and thats it, Now I know why it shakes his teeth out, he has changed wheels fitted different shocks and spends long weekends under it. The laugh is he bought a TVR because qoute " Porsche's are too common".

I got my Griff on the Saturday and the crankshaft went on the Monday, it was off the rod for two months but when I got it back it gave me 4 1/2 good years with minimum fuss, don't be put off.

They only feel twitchy because the steering is so heavily assisted. Dont be so ham fisted and drive with your fingertips. Contrary to popular opinion, a Sagaris isnt some hairy arsed lairy beast, it is much more of a pussycat, treat it with finesse and you will be just fine.
Yes they do ride stiff, but I never found it overly harsh from the drivers seat. Have somebody check what set up you are riding on.

Do you know what is wrong?Engine still runs?
Clutch feels OK?

Could it just be the 13amp fuse that has blown? Do a search on here for fuse and always carry a spare. This could be a very simple problem to fix...
That's it! Sound like the fuse! 15min job the second time it happens
(but 6 hours the first, with recovery etc!)
But as for the ride; Well I bought mine and had also never driven it or another, and well, it's not a harsh ride at all;
Possible tyre pressures at 28-30 psi that should be 24psi?

I bought it from David Gerald TVR. I didn't have a third party inspection given it is from an official TVR dealer. It was serviced and MOT'd before I bought it and the guys do seem genuine about the sale and were a little surprised when I emailed them at 1am last night from the side of the road.
Agreed I will KEEP the car. They came to pick it up today from my home, have taken it away and are seeing what's wrong with it (if it's a fuse, I'd be mighty pissed that they didn't tell me
this may be an issue!) I guess I haven't driven a car so stiff before - even a Lotus seemed to have more give in the set up. I think I was just a little surprised overall but was pretty happy with it until said incident. Let's hope that it gets fixed and doesn't happen again too soon!

Dealers do seem to always try and put 28 PSI in the tyres, and it does ruin the ride and handling on anything buy a billard table smoooth motorway/track. Dealers say they're following the latest factory guidance, however trust the people here - who track and sprint their TVRs regularly, and have done 100,000s miles in TVRs so know what is best.
