Hi Guys and girls not sure if anyone knows or can help me, but as a trader I pay to advertise my cars in the classifieds section. Since originally started the advertisement I have reduced the price but now my ad has slipped right down to page 11 which I am sure some potential buyers wont bother looking that far down.

So my question is how can I bump my ad up so to speak to the first page so people can see it rather than having to pay to advertise it again (bearing in mind my ad has 50 days left to run!!)

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Many thanks

Hi Matt,

Logging into www.vdealer.co.uk should refresh your adverts.

Matt, I've looked at it and it's simply because there are so many cars in that section.

Logging in every few days will ensure that it remains in the upper section of the ads. The latter pages of ads do get looked at but I understand your concern and we have been discussing making the filtering/searching facilities more obvious to users so that the chronological paging becomes less of an issue.

I've bumped it to the top for you now.

Thanks Ted, I do tend to log in quite often to check the amount of views etc but it never seems to "bump" up so to speak??

But thankyou for doing that

FAO Ted, again my ad is slipping down the pages and I have done what you said to do logged into vdealer, I have tried this, I have even reduced the price again but my ad still does not move up. Do some dealers have a Preferential deal with pistonheads or something as I my ads do not seem to be doing what you say they will??

I'm in the office tomorrow. I'll check out how the system works and how it's affecting your ads.

I've had a look at the system. When you log in it checks for any ads that are more than 14 days old. They will be refreshed.

Hi Ted, I dont think the system is working as you say it should, my ad is now 28 days old and even when I log in it does not go to the front, and I have noticed other dealers cars being frequently put to the front but not mine and I feel this seems a little unfair

I've checked your advert and the timestamp on it is 28th March, so it's not yet 14 days old which is why it hasn't been bumped to the top recently.

Yes, but as I detailed earlier in this thread, I bumped it to the top for you on the 28th March. It now has a 'timestamp' of 28th March. If you log in 14 days after 28th March then it will go back to the top.

At the risk of hijacking - does this 14 day criteria appply to private ads too?

If I recall correctly, there is a similar rule. If you edit your advert when it's reached a certain age (probably older than dealer ads) then yes, it will revert to the top.
