whats the score with the MOT emmision regulations, is there two different catogarys one for uk spec cars and one for imported cars and whats the age where the emmisions doesnt come into it at all. I have heard imported cars dont have to have a lower level like uk spec or is it that they are just a bit more leneant on imported cars, many thanks. Michael.

I think they have a database for all UK cars, and just use a nominal limit for imports and stuff that's not on the database, so may well be a bit more leaniant on imports.

You test to the age of the car or engine, which ever is older. So if you have an old engine in a new car then provided the presenter has evidence of age you can test to the age of the engine.
It doesn't matter wheather the car is imported or not.

your best bet is to become friendly with the garage, and if your lucky they'll have a little Pug C1 in or something, that normally works well! :P ofcourse, i would never dream of doing this!!
