Could anyone please post a picture, of the door seal on your roof, where it meets the quarter light frame of the door?

Mine was folding up at this point, causing a huge draft, and small leak.

In my ultimate wisdom, i cut the roof seal at the point where the metal work touched it, and the window closed a lot better. However, this morning instead of a nice dry TVr i have an indoor pool.
as the bit i cut away is now allowing the water to run down the rubber seal and straight in the cabin.
its getting to me now this problem i have a new set of seals here, and want to make sure i dont fit them wrong

thanks in advance for any help

Hi Martin,

Hope the picture below is of some help. The point of contact between the quarter light frame and the rubber seal is probably the the biggest ware point of the roof seal.

If you have new seals... first cut them to full length, better to have too much length that you can trim back than to cut them too short in the first place. You can't see it from the photo but where the roof seal meets the windscreen rubber the end is cut at ~ a 45 degree (or so) angle.

Try the new seals and see how you get on. I'd say that cutting the new seals to fit around the qtr light should be a last resort because of the potential problems that you have already had.

In addition something I found when I recovered my roof panel was that the metal runners that hold the roof panel seals sometimes have washers behind them to act as spacers to help with door/glass and seal alignment. I'd check the runners closely to see if you can see any spaces. If you do, removing it at the problem point might help to stop roof seal fouling the qtr light.

brilliant, all done, and i have adjusted the height of the window when closed too, and it appears to be a perfect fit now, time will tell and of course, the next down pour lol.

but thank you G so much, you just made a job very easy.

also if anyone wants a laugh, ive moaned secretly since having the car, that the screen does not demist when i put the heater direction to the the right, i have just found that if you close the vents in the wells, that the force of the air to the screen, is greatly increased, oh the times ive cursed the poor car, all it took was a bit of common sense ha ha
