Hire car company's - Any one recommend one?

We're after hiring a car, clio or something smallish to take from UK to Le Mans and back! Can anyone recommend a good company that they have used or know of that does a good price etc, we'd need to pick the car up Essex area ideally, obviously I have done a google search, but I wanted to see what experiences/prices/hassle etc people had had with any companies and if you guys could suggest one?

Ah, well this is the dilmea I am having, having spoken to some of the guys on the WRR forum it sounds best if we take something boring that can fit some luxuries in, we are going from the tue to the monday so want changes of clothes, etc etc!

so anyone know of good hire company!

don't be gay. I managed a week camping in an Elise with the wife. We managed to get the tent, airbed & her clothes in. And what you can't fit in, buy it there & dump it/give it away afterwards.

Just gave them a call but the Pagani is already booked, damn! Looks like a clio is next best thing...

If theres a few of you going why not buy a second hand car the size you want and sell it on when you get back? Probably work out cheaper than a hire car! Just a thought

now thats a good idea, we did that a few years ago and bought a LWB Transit for about £400, took all our kit and a few bodies as well for a full weeks onslaught at LM.

Thats what we were going to do this year & then turn it into a track car. But the group got bigger & we have ended up in a minibus - arse!

True, we may do that, although would like to see if a hire car would work out cheaper, as we're working on a tight budget here!

If you have the VX you have to take that

1) Its cheaper, as you already own it!
2) Its faster than anything you can hire on a budget
3) Once you see the exotica driving down, you will be gutted if you are in some kind of Noddy car

Yeah, take the VX.

We'll be trying to squeeze gear for 8 nights, tent etc. plus assorted tools, spares and 2x crash helmets (as doing a trackday at Abbeville on the way back)...

two of us, but as we're going for a few days, do want to have some comforts and wanted to fill the car with cheap boose on the way, the VX just wont have the room!

I'm sure some kind soul will lend you a Clio for the weekend for free...

Ha ha ha! I am sure someone would, yes!

Well Avis are doing Clios, insurance and breakdown cover etc with very local pickup for me for £250 all in, so that sounds pretty darn good to me, aircon as well, so if its baking hot (which of course it will be this year) then we'll be happy! Plenty of room for crate of wine and beer in the boot too!

We did tues to mon in a TVR 1600m a few years ago, just be creative with your packing.....

You will not regret not having the best car you can get ..
