As per the title really...anyone do this as their daily commute (on a bike)?

I used to do the opposite, M40 - Woolwich

I used to go straight through town, A40, Marble arch, Traf Sq, Embankment Tower hill Lime house link to CW.

Used to take me about 50 minutes to Woolwich from Rickmansworth.

I do the same as Hughsie whenever I need to do this trip. London's a bh to get across whichever way you go but at least you get to see the sights this way. smile

Just watch out for all the camera's especially along the Embankment and Past Tower Bridge into the Limehouse Link.

Have Fun and watch out for the Bendy Buses!

That's certainly one of the quickest routes by car (I'm normally in the office by 7am), so will probably start with that and see how it goes, however I'll probably be travelling later on the bike.

Just thinking of the bits that are going to be tricky filtering through heavy traffic due to narrow lanes...a couple of bits of A40 Western Avenue for example...and whether there are any worthwhile alternatives...

I do the opposite run and use the Blackwall tunnel, A13, ring road up around the Angel to Kings Cross and out along the Marylebone road.
Even coming home in rush hour it's a quick route on a bike.

Don't come in from the M40 but agree with GMan about putting it in ASDA car park. Unusual to pay for bike parking but when I take mine in its 2 quid well spent as it's dry and theres a good chance it will be there when you get back.
