Idiot in a BMW.
Discussion
Like a good Husband, I thought I would treat my wife to breakfast in bed today. So I went down to McDonalds for a big breakfast.........OK I know its not quite like fresh egg & bacon but its the thought that counts.
Anyway, I had to park and wait for them to bring it out to me and while waiting, a D
k head in a BMW 3 reversed back against my front end.
I got out to check my car to find that he was still hard up against me. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he denied that he had hit me. I explained that if he cared to get out, he would see that he was hard up against my car. He refused and insisted that he was fine as his "parking sensors" had not sounded.
As I was about to take a photo, he moved forward.
What a
ker.
Not to worry though, the paint on my newly resprayed service bonnet wiped off as it was from his now broken rear bumper.
They are quite fragile arnt they, BMW's.
I off course complimented him on his driving inability

Had the same thing happen to me last week.
I never as a rule park the Tuscan in supermarket or DIY car parks, anyway out with my partner Jan and decided to drop in to Homebase for paint samples.
Came back and there is a 57 plate saab wedeged against my front, spoke to the guy and he said he is parking sensors hadn't gone off. Actually he was OK apologised profusely moved his car forward , thank god not a mark on the Tuscan I was sooo relieved.
Does anyone with these sensors use their eyes or mirrors ?

I wonder how accurate Radar Guns are with Tuscan bonnets. There's an issue with the Boys in Blue not pointing at a standard radiator and hitting a point on the bonnet. With a Tuscan it must be prone to error...I wonder if anyone with a Tuscan has ever contested a speeding fine on this basis???

You could try but it wouldn't get you anywhere. Doesn't matter what shape your bonnet is, RADAR comes back accurate. Police calibrate as soon as it's taken out the box so if your caught, your caught.I thought the issue was, if the copper moves the gun slightly up or down it can register against differing points on the bonnet, hence the doppler effect used to measure the speed of the car can be inaccurate ( It must fire twice with a short interval between). The Police are training to "shoot" at the radiator which presents a more vertical surface, my point is , that on a Tuscan there is very little vertical surface....I think we need "Nick" Whatever (the solicitor from Manchester) who got Fergie and the rest of Uniteds squad off speeding charges
Anyway the bonnet seems to screw up the infra red on these Parking sensors.

Nah, the RADAR doesn't give one speed, it's scrolls the speed so if you're slowing down, it shows that and also if you're speeding up. Doesn't matter what part of the car you aim it.
Only thing i've heard as a defence that may work is bikers who claim that it was the car traveling behind them that was hit as they are such a small target.
As for parking sensors, they are hopeless and anyone who needs them to park there car shouldn't have a license in the first place.

Hmmm! Parking sensors? Speed Detection?
See this thread...
Check out the video link - seems to work well...
As to the legality - that's a BIG

Check the fibreglass on your service bonnet hinges/swivels. When someone did this to me, it cracked the fibreglass here. I didn't notice at the time because I only checked the bonnet exterior, but fortunately took down his details and had witnesses...so claimed on his insurance.
Al.
Yes, good point.Al.
Too late for me to check now and I wont see my car for about 3 weeks now. Fingers crossed its OK when I get home.
