I'm thoroughly fed up. I've just been through 6 months of chemo to get rid of a wee bit of cancer and it looked as if it had all gone. Great I thought. Le Mans is safe.

I got some scan results back the other day and whilst it was mostly great news, I was just about to go into surgery to have my spleen removed, the scan showed that wasn't necessary. Unfortunately it also showed that a little bit of nastines was left elsewhere.

So back on the chemo I go and bang goes trip number 7 to Le Mans. B*gger.

The biggest pain is that I'd just paid for it all............Not a lot, but it's the principle!

No more Karting Nord fun for me this year. Grumble.

Its not all bad! My brother couldn't come for similar reasons last year so he thoroughly annoyed his wife by spending the enire 24Hrs in front of his computer listening to Radio Le Mans, drinking 'beverages' and when Aston Martin came home first, he went and jumped in the shower fully clothed, so as to be as close as we were in the celebrations!!

Good luck, see you in 2009.

We'll have a drink for you, if you have one for us!

Edited cos I was log in a 'him'

arse - hope it gets sorted soon

The thing to do is put the cash you get for selling your tickets & the cash you would have spent over there in the bank. Then next year double spends - do it in style.

i can sympathise, been there, done that and got the scares to prove it. Its a real bummer, is there any chance a chum can run you down for the Friday to Monday bit?

Some chums helped me out that way, few weeks out of stem cell transplant and had a cracking LM. Just take it easy.

here's good fortune for you, if you are able to come along swing by HA for a cold one. FS

Le Mans will be there next year and the year after that and so on. Better to make sure you are as well! Good luck, be positive a good friend of mine was given 3 months to go and did 3 years through shear determination and effort. All the best, a beer, or two, will be sunk for you.

All very true. Thanks chaps (and lady of course!) I'm feeling a bit better about it now.

Of course I won't take any risks with my health for "just" a trip to Le Mans. I've missed the odd year before due to work, so it isn't a new thing.

I'll still be missing it but thanks for reminding me about radio Le Mans online. That'll make it alot better.

I'll probably just going through the stem cell treatment when it's on, so at least I should be able to have a beer or two or six!

See you all next year!

I'll be back from Le Mans to Blighty before then so if you want a nice 48 pack of stubbies and some french cheeses email me with where you live and if feasable - my pleasure. Can't have you sufffering more than necessary.

Can sympathise with you all the way , Currently doing the Chemo and Antibody thing myself , 7 weeks to go so should be done by Le Mans (If the quacks dont put me on some other regime by then) With any luck my only choice to make will be Tiger Cat or (more sensibly) Seat Leon (dailly run around) to make the trip in .
Will make sure I have a beer or two for all those in the Cancer Community , Keep sticking two fingers up at it and remember there is always next year.

Been through it myself and know the importance of setting yourself targets to aim for. Ok, you can't get to LM this year, which must be difficult to take, but pick something else later in the year to focus on and go for it! Good luck wink

oh bad luck Sir. Is there absolutely nothing you can do at all?? of course your health comes first, perhaps you could look at the Le Mans classic after??
is even a super short trip a no go??

hope you get things sorted.

Best wishes

Hmmm, the Le Mans Classic sounds like a plan. I've always fancied going to that, especially as the normal Le Mans is getting slightly "chavvier" by the year.

Good work and you're absolutely right about setting targets.

Couple of alternatives a bit later in the year for you...
2&3 Aug 08 - Spa 24hrs http://www.total24hours.com/index_flash.asp
16&17 Aug 08 - Le Mans Series at Da Ring http://www.lemans-series.com/en/s52_circuits/s52p0...
27&28 Sept 08 - Spa classic http://www.roadbook.be/Summer/index.html

I'd thoroughly recommend any of the above wink
