Hi, my local dealer is letting me have one for the weekend next week and I'd love to hear any owners views of living with the car!

On first glance, it seems huge, certainly much bigger than the 997tt we're also considering... does it shrink around you or are you always keenly aware of size and weight? (this is a car for the wife principally)

It has the flappy paddles but I understand this is a la tiptronic, driving an auto box rather than a manual. Do you find it annoying or does it suit the character of the car?

Must say the 3d satnav seems great - or is it just a pretty face?

Key options? Skyhook suspension? Any thoughts on ride on 19s vs 20s?

I'm tempted by the S because I understand the engine is derived from the Alfa 8C's rather than the previous 4200GT, and it is supposed to deliver that mid range grunt people say is missing from the standard car.

The dealer is also offering a 3 year warranty and 3 years free servicing - so I'm guessing so far they are fairly reliable cars.

Anyway, any experiences most welcome!

Andrew

It really depends what you are looking for. It is a very smooth comfortable cruiser. It is totally different in character and purpose to a porsche turbo.

It is fast but doesnt feel that fast.

The gearbox is very smooth on change (It is an auto with manual overide). It is absolutely nothing like a ferrari F1 box. It would make for very easy driving as a day-to-day car.

It doesnt feel that big to drive.

The 20's are hard, but not excessively so. The car in black with graphite coloured 20's looks stunning.

I am pretty sure that the engine is a de-tuned ferrari 430 engine.

The S will have a ferrari 599 paddle shift (not an auto).

As I said it is VERY different from a P turbo. You will need to drive both.

Andrew i have had mine for two months now and i can tell you that it is a fantastic car to drive. Altough it has the same block as my 430 it is a totaly differant drive. In mymind it is the kind of car you would like to spend a month driving round europe in. It is not good on petrol, but then again if you cant afford the petrol you cant afford the car.

Mine is an every day car and it serves this purpose well. The sport button is there should anyone need to be blown away.

The new S version comes in Nov (cant wait) this will have more BHP and the gear box from the MC12.

The car is stagering good looking the amount of people who just stand back and look is amazing, it is a real head turner.
